Principal's Message
March
Wonderful TES Families,
Every spring I am filled with joy as the sun starts to shine warmly on our faces, days become longer, and we see the first signs of spring flowers popping up. There is something energizing about the shift in weather. I hope you all are feeling the goodness of the season warm your soul, as well.
Coming up this Wednesday we have our second annual District Math Night. The event will be hosted at PHS from 5:30-7:00. There will pizza served and TONS of prizes to win, even a couple of iPads! Experts from iReady will be here to help parents learn how to access this important learning tool from home. Mid-year performance data shows that students who spend 30-45 minutes each week working on their individual learning pathway on iReady reading and math are more likely to hit their typical growth targets by the end of the school year. The classroom with the most students in attendance will win a class pizza party. Make sure you stop by for some fun with math!
Finally, I want to extend my appreciation to our wonderful PTA here at school. Last Friday they hosted our annual Family Dance Party and it was a blast! Seeing students and families come dressed up and dancing together really made my heart pitter-patter. I know I say it all of the time, but every time we get to spend time together, I am reminded just how lucky I am to serve as your principal. It is truly my dream job!
With all my happy, springy love,
Ms. Lowe
Snow Day Make-Up Days
PTS Rising School Board approved a change in our academic calendar for the missed school days in February. School will be in session for normal school hours on Friday, May 23rd and Friday, June 6th.
Bilingual Tee-Shirt Design Contest 🤩
Students are invited to participate in a design contest for our new bilingual TES shirt. The theme of the shirt centers on a belief that when we create a sense of belonging for every student, we all learn to our highest potential.
Flyers go home today (3/10) and are due next Monday (3/17). PTA members will narrow down top choices and students will vote on their favorite design during lunch on Wednesday, March 19th. (see flyer for more details)
The student with the top selected design will win $50, a special lunch delivery, and a free shirt, of course. Tee-shirts will be available for purchase at our annual Día del Nino celebration on April 17th. Good luck!
Attendance Data Update
This year we are working hard to increase students' regular attendance at school. Our goal is to have every child attend 90% or more of the days here at school.
This spring we are rolling out a targeted intervention and incentive for those students falling in the 80-89% range. Students who are in this range and hit the 90% mark by the end of April will get to have a pizza party with Ms. Lowe. If they maintain 90% or better through May, they will win a root beer float party for their entire class. If your child falls within this range, you will be notified by the office.
Please join us in encouraging your child to come to school every day. We know there has been an icky bug going around lately. However, we are hopeful that with the changing of the seasons, we will see the illnesses subside. If you need any support with this attendance effort, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here for you!
Spring Cleaning
Our LOST AND FOUND has reached full capacity. Over spring break (March 20th-March 28th) we will gather up EVERYTHING and donate the items. Please take the time to find your student's missing items before the break.
Family Math Night
Meet Snarg and Plory from iReady!
