News for Marcellus Middle School students and families

Things to know . . .
- MSTEP Testing:
- May 1 - 8th grade Social Studies MSTEP
- May 2 - 6th grade ELA MSTEP
- May 8 - 7th grade ELA MSTEP
- May 9 - 7th grade Math MSTEP
- Homework hour is at the Middle School Monday-Thursday from 3-4 pm. Homework hour is available to all students and they do not need to sign up in advance.
- There will not be homework hour May 1, 7, 9, 29-30. The last day for Homework hour is May 28.
- May 7 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm is the 6th grade orientation for incoming 6th grade students and parents.
- The date for the Marcellus Middle School Farewell Dance is May 10 from 6pm - 8 pm. We will need parent volunteers to chaperone the dance and also to provide snacks for the students. The dance is semi-formal (no sweatpants, jeans, etc.). Please call the middle school office if you would like to volunteer or have questions about our final party of the year.
- Saturday School is May 11 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Families will be notified on May 10 if their student needs to attend. Any student may attend Saturday School - it is available to all students.
- There is no school on May 27 for Memorial Day.
- The 7th and 8th grade students will attend a STEM fair and a Kalamazoo Growlers game on May 28.
- The middle school will be having a Scholastic Book Fair the final week of school for students to purchase books to read during the summer months.
- June 3 - 6 is 6th Grade Camp for our 6th graders at Bair Lake Bible Camp. Please call the office if you have questions about camp.
- The Marcellus Middle School Awards Ceremony will be June 4 at 6:30 p.m. The Book Fair will be open at 5:30 for parents to browse and purchase books for their children.
- June 7 is the last day of school. It is a half day.

Evan Easton - Evan is a great student and always kind to others.
8th Grade Student of the Month
Emma Caudill - "She is an excellent student, always on top of her grades, and is a good human."

6th Grade Camp
Students will attend 6th Grade Camp June 3 - 6. Students will have breakfast at school and then travel to camp on a school bus. Students will have lunch and activities at camp with Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Gribler.
