Learning Together
Nurturing a Lifelong Love of Learning at GES
At Great Expectations School, our vision goes beyond academic success. While mastery of core academic skills is vital, we are equally committed to fostering a lifelong love of learning in each student. We believe that when children develop a genuine passion for discovery, it not only enhances their educational experience but also prepares them for a lifetime of curiosity and growth.
Our approach encourages students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and embrace challenges with enthusiasm. Whether they are tackling math problems, investigating the natural world, or engaging in creative projects, we aim to ignite a sense of wonder that will carry them forward long after they leave our classrooms. We encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills, helping students become independent learners who feel empowered to seek out knowledge and new perspectives.
This love of learning is deeply connected to the other core elements of our vision. As students grow in their academic skills, they also build a strong sense of self, learning to trust their abilities and pursue their interests with confidence. They form meaningful relationships with peers and mentors, learning the value of collaboration and the joy of shared discovery. They develop a commitment to contributing positively to their community, as well as an appreciation for the beauty and complexity of the natural world around them.
By nurturing curiosity and a passion for learning, we aim to cultivate not only successful students but also thoughtful, engaged citizens who are eager to continue learning and growing throughout their lives. At GES, we believe that fostering this lifelong love of learning is one of the most important gifts we can give our students as they embark on their individual paths toward a bright future.

Calling All Veterans!
As we begin planning for our Veterans Day event, we would like to honor the individuals in our community who have served in the armed forces. If you or a loved one is a veteran, we would be honored to recognize your service during our upcoming Veterans Day event. Please reach out to Rachael to let us know. Thank you for your service!
🎃Holidays and Celebrations🎃
As we approach the Halloween season, we wanted to take a moment to address our school's approach to this holiday. At GES, we understand and respect the diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs of our families. We recognize that some of our families choose to celebrate Halloween, while others do not. In light of this, we want to clarify our school's stance on this matter.
As a school, GES does not officially celebrate holidays. However, we fully respect everyone's choices to do so in their personal lives. We believe in fostering an inclusive and understanding community where every individual's traditions and beliefs are honored. With this in mind, we want to inform you that while we will not be organizing any Halloween celebrations or activities at school, we are more than happy to allow students to wear school appropriate costumes if they choose.

Community Spirit
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We would like to invite your child to participate in the BackPack Program. This program is a
partnership between the Great Expectations Public School, Second Harvest Northland,
volunteers, and generous funders from throughout our region. A form was sent out earlier this week, if you need another copy, please contact Ms. Jean.
The BackPack Program provides a small bag of nutritious, non-perishable food for your
child to eat during the weekend when school is not in session throughout the school year.
Each bag contains a variety of items including main entrees, breakfast items, fruit,
vegetables, snacks and often juice or shelf-stable milk.
Once enrolled in the BackPack Program, your child will receive a small bag of food at the
end of the day, before school dismisses, at the end of the school week. Teachers and
school staff will help remind students when and where to pick up their items. The food
will be packed in a bag which will be easy to put in a backpack or book bag. The food is
intended to be eaten by your child during the weekend.
