From Miss Angela
Dear VAP Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with joy and relaxation. We’re so excited to welcome our students back today and dive into the busy and festive weeks ahead!
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed to our annual Rotary Club of Temecula Holiday Food Drive. Each house showed incredible generosity, and we are so proud of our students for supporting this important cause. The winners of this year’s house competition will be announced during our monthly flag ceremony this Wednesday.
This Friday is Tree Trimming Day! Students will get to dive into the holiday spirit by helping decorate the school tree and their classrooms, spreading festive cheer throughout campus. It’s also our monthly Spirit Day, and we can’t wait to see everyone decked out in their holiday PJs as we celebrate the season together!
As we dive into the holiday season, we are excited to share that our grade-level holiday programs will take place on Wednesday, December 18th. Performance times are listed below, so please mark your calendars. We kindly ask that all students arrive dressed in their holiday best to help make these performances extra special.
Be sure to explore the rest of this newsletter for updates on upcoming events, important dates, and activities. There’s so much to look forward to, and we are truly grateful to have you as part of the Van Avery Prep family.
Instructional Coaching on Campus
Over the past couple of months, your students may have noticed instructional support teams visiting and working alongside our teachers. We have partnered with the Spring EDU team to provide this added level of support for our instructional staff. These visits are part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that our classrooms are equipped with the best tools and practices to support student achievement.
Instructional coaching is a research-based approach proven to have a positive impact on student outcomes. By partnering with teachers, coaches help identify and implement strategies that align with proven methodologies. Together, they focus on refining instructional moves that meet the diverse needs of our learners while creating a collaborative environment for professional growth.
Through this partnership, our goal is to enhance student engagement, deepen understanding, and maximize learning opportunities. We want to celebrate the hard work our teachers do every day and provide support tailored to our instructional goals.

Cold & Flu Season
As the colder months approach, it's essential for us to join forces in ensuring the well-being of our students. Cold and flu season is upon us, and while we can't completely shield our children from every germ, there are proactive measures we can take to minimize the risk of illnesses.
Here are some key precautions to keep in mind:
Hand Hygiene: Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after using the restroom. Proper handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs.
Healthy Habits: Teach your child to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their elbow when coughing or sneezing. This simple habit can significantly reduce the transmission of respiratory droplets.
Proper Nutrition: A well-balanced diet helps strengthen the immune system. Encourage your child to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Hydration is also key, so remind them to drink plenty of water.
Adequate Rest: Make sure your child gets enough sleep each night. A well-rested body is better equipped to fight off infections.
Open Communication: If your child is feeling unwell, it's important to communicate with the school and keep them at home until they're fully recovered. This not only helps their own recovery but also prevents the potential spread of illness to classmates.
By working together and implementing these precautions, we can create a healthier environment for our children. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the well-being of our school community.
