Dear East Brunswick Families,

As we approach the conclusion of the academic year, we would like to inform you about the end-of-year procedures for student devices. Specifically, regarding the return of devices for the graduating 4th-grade students who will be transitioning to a new building. It is important that these students return their assigned devices, along with all accompanying accessories, to their current building during the week of June 16th. Please ensure that both the device and its charger are included in the return. Any device not received by June 20th will result in a device fine of $251.

For the remaining 2nd and 3rd graders, who will soon become our esteemed 3rd and 4th graders, they will have the opportunity to take their devices home at the end of the year. This will allow them to adequately prepare for the upcoming academic term and be fully equipped on the first day of school.

Parents/Guardians - Please read, but we hope you can keep this a SURPRISE for the children!

If your child needs supervision before 8:55, we do offer an Early Morning Program through our Community Programs. Please visit the website or contact the office for more information.

As the weather is getting warmer, please remember that upon dismissal, it is expected that parents/guardians are taking their children home. Staff members are NOT responsible for students once they have been released to their parent/guardian.

School behaviors are expected for any child(ren) that remain on the playground after school hours. Please remain vigilant, stay close, and SUPERVISE YOUR CHILD(REN) at all times before leaving school property. Also, for the safety of all, please be reminded that dogs are NOT permitted on school property and small motorized vehicles should not be brought/used before or after school.

As we enjoy the final days of school and the summer months, it’s important to keep sun safety in mind—especially for our kids! Children spend a great deal of time outdoors during recess, at camp, and family activities. Protecting them from the sun’s harmful rays is an important part of keeping them healthy.

Here are a few simple sun safety tips to help protect your child during the summer months:

1. Apply Sunscreen Daily
Please apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to your child before school. Sunscreen should be applied to all exposed skin, including the face, ears, neck, arms, and legs.

2. Dress for the Sun
Lightweight, light-colored clothing that covers the skin and a wide-brimmed hat to help shade the face and neck is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. UV-protective sunglasses are also helpful for protecting young eyes.

3. Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated is essential on warm days. Good hydration helps keep the body cool and healthy.

4. Set a Good Example
Children learn best by example. Practicing sun safety at home reinforces the importance of these healthy habits.

East Brunswick Public Library subscribes to Tutor.com (which is owned by The Princeton Review). It is open to all ages and available from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. every day. It is free to anyone with an East Brunswick Public Library card.

There are no appointments needed, a student can simply log in and search for the subjects or test areas they are interested in and connect with a tutor for live help. They can also submit papers or math problems for tutors to review and respond to.

All students may pick up a breakfast upon arrival and eat it in their classroom.

The State of NJ Working-Class Families Anti-Hunger Act has expanded the number of families that may qualify for no-cost meals. Complete the application, found in your child’s Parent Access account under the “Forms” tab, at anytime.
