Dear Harbordale Families,
We had a wonderful second week here at Harbordale! I hope your children are coming home tired because they are working hard. This week, students in grades first through fifth grades completed the iReady Diagnostic in class. This is an online platform that assesses students and provides a personalized platform for their learning. Please reach out to your child's teacher to find out more information about the program and using it at home!
A BIG "THANK YOU" to HSA for our awesome new recess bags. These bags were filled to the top with anything a child could want to play with at recess. Our students love the outdoor time and this is a wonderful addition to our recess time. If you haven't joined HSA yet, please do so at www.harbordalehsa.com.
This week we will be taking the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Progress Monitoring #1. Not to fret! This test is a baseline to see how much students already know about their grade level's curriculum. It is okay for students to not perform as well on this assessment because they have not been taught the content yet. We will take the next Progress Monitoring around December and the final one around May of 2025. Please help us reinforce for your child to just try his or her hardest - that's all we're asking!
Last, but not least, Friday is picture day. Students do not have to wear their uniforms for picture day. Proofs of their pictures will go home in a few weeks for your purchase. Nothing to do for now!
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Kasdhin & Ms. Gordon

π Important School Reminders π
β°Tardies
Students must be in their seats at 8:00 AM and ready to learn. Starting 8/26/2024, students not in their seats at 8:00 AM will receive a tardy. An accumulation of tardy minutes may lead to full day absences. It is Florida State Law that all students must be in school every day.
πSnack
Snack time is a daily part of our schedules. A snack is a small amount of food eaten between meals. Students may bring in a hand-held item like crackers, a bag of chips, string cheese or a piece of fruit. Items that require a utensil or dipping will be saved for lunch. We strongly encourage healthy snacks for our students.
π·Absences
If a student is absent due to a vacation, a special event, etc., assignments will not be available in advance. All missed worked will be provided upon returning to class. Students will be given 2 days for every day absent to complete the assignments. Please notify the front office via our online form, written note, or phone. DOJO notifications to classroom teacher will not excuse any absences.
πBirthdays
A childβs birthday is a very special time. We afford parents the option to provide a treat such as store-bought cupcakes or an individually wrapped snack for the class to celebrate this special day. However, we do not accept goody bags or balloons in the classroom.
π Changes of Dismissal π
All changes of dismissal must be made in CurbSmart by 1:00 PM that day. You can access CurbSmart online or via an App on your phone.
