Park Terrace Elementary
December 4, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Greetings Park Terrace Families,
Happy December and welcome to the start of a new trimester! As the second trimester begins, it's a great opportunity to build on the momentum from the first part of the school year. With routines now familiar and goals more defined, this is a time to dig deeper into learning, strengthen relationships with classmates and teachers, and tackle challenges with renewed focus. We look forward to continued growth in the second trimester of the school year.
Our students in first grade shared an annual tradition with the school last week by putting on a Thanksgiving Day parade! Students created Thanksgiving Day parade floats, then paraded throughout the school to share their work with all students and staff. The pride students had in displaying their work was immeasurable! It was also heartwarming to observe the audience cheer on and encourage the parade participants. This is something the whole school looks forward to each year! Be sure to check out pictures of this fun event.
Paper copies of the trimester one report cards will be sent home at the end of this week with your child(ren). As always, please let us know if you have any questions.
Please join us for STEM Night this Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. We’ll have a ton of engaging STEM activities led by Park Terrace staff, Spring Lake Park High School volunteers, and the Science Museum of Minnesota. Swing by for a fun night! I hope to see you.
Have a great week,
Lindsay

State Assessment Results from 2023-2024 available in Campus Parent Portal
If your child participated in state assessments last year, their report is now available in Campus Parent Portal. Students in Grades 3 through 8 and high school complete the MCA or MTAS in reading, math, and/or science and students in English Learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. More assessment reports will be available in the portal in coming months.
Here are the steps to access the reports:
- Log into Campus Parent Portal account.
- Click on “More” on the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Go to “Student Reports” at the bottom of the page.
- Select your child’s name and the report you want to view.
- Click “Generate Report” and a PDF will download.
If a report is not available (either because the student is in a grade level that does not take the assessment OR because that particular student did not take the assessment), a message will be displayed that the report is not available. If you believe that is incorrect and your child did take the assessment, reach out to Assessment@district16.org.

1st grade parade!
Our 1st graders held their annual Thanksgiving parade at. They paraded around the whole school showing off their awesome floats. Smiles and cheering could be seen and heard from the observers. Great job, 1st graders!
Fall 2024 highlights: Panther athletics and activities
This fall, Panther athletics, activities, and fine arts offered opportunities for students to connect, grow, and shine. With 15 sports for girls and boys, plus 48 student-led clubs, over 85% of high schoolers got involved in something meaningful.
The season, highlights include section runner-up finishes in football, girls’ soccer, and adapted soccer, as well as state-level participation in cross country and swim and dive. Eighteen Panthers earned NWSC All-Conference honors, and Brianna Finnegan signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at South Dakota State University.
Clubs like bowling and ultimate frisbee also made their mark with conference showings and placing in the top three, while our fine arts programs impressed with the Fine Arts Festival and the fall theater production of Puffs (for Young Wizards). See all fall highlights.
