Honesty
Being truthful in what you say and do
A few examples of how to demonstrate honesty:
- Following through with what you say you are going to do
- Telling the truth
- Choosing not to cheat
- Admitting when you were wrong
- Telling important information (instead of purposely leaving out selective information)
- Returning something that belongs to others
- Doing the right thing (when you didn't have to)
Honesty is worth THREE PBS points during the month of February.

Reading
Reading Success Plans were sent home on January 31. Reach out to Mrs. Osburn or the classroom teacher if you have questions or concerns. Students will continue to receive intervention based on their areas of need. Information about our Read Across America celebration in March will be coming out soon!
Happy Reading,

Math
- The K and 1st grade students did an AWESOME job on their Middle of the Year (MOY) testing! Both classes have worked hard and many students in the first grade were able to count to 100 or more. Students are working on making addition and subtraction equations be rearranging the same numbers. This is known as a fact families. They are continuing to work on counting and writing their numbers to 100.
- 1st--They will be learning how to use tally marks and taking surveys. They will look at data and learn how to organize it into categories, and then how to interpret the results using picture graphs and charts.
- 2nd--Keep encouraging your child to count money and tell time, especially on an analog clock. They are doing a great job! This month they will be working on place values through 1,000. They are learning different ways to say the same number. For example: standard form is 234, word form is two hundred thirty-four, and expanded form is 200+30+4.
- 3rd--They will be using partial differences to subtract three digit numbers. They will be using regrouping to subtract, and will continue to use estimation to see if their answers are reasonable. They will also be learning to multiply by 10's.
- 4th--They will continue learning about and working with fractions. They will understand addition and subtraction of fractions and apply multiplication concepts to fractions.
Have FUN with numbers!
