FMS Orchestra
Last Thursday, FMS orchestras went to perform and be adjudicated at their festival, and it was a ridiculous success!!! There was a marked difference between FMS orchestra students and other schools in both musicianship and behavior. Fremont kids conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism and respect at all times, celebrated each others' successes, and just had an amazing time!
Scores are given by 2 separate judges out of 100 points overall, and then categorized. "Superior" and "excellent" scores are the 2 highest awards groups can be given.
-The beginning orchestra got scores of 85 (excellent) and 92 (superior), for an overall 88.5 Excellent - incredibly solid scores for first-year musicians!
-The advanced orchestra got scores of 99 and 100, for an overall 99.5 superior plus! I have never seen these numbers on a festival scoresheet, let alone at the middle school level. I didn't even know "superior PLUS" was an award they could receive! These kids got the highest scores of the day, and potentially the highest scores of the entire festival.
We have a lot to be proud of!!! Consider stopping by their final concert to see them in action on May 7, 7:00pm in the KPAC at KHS!
ISAT Testing
ISAT Testing continues. May 8th will be our next testing date.
The Science ISAT for 8th grade will be May 15th.
Remind your students to have their laptop charged, bring headphones and laptop charger to school.
Facts and Snacks
This month's Facts & Snacks event exceeded all expectations! Middle school students had the opportunity to participate in a captivating presentation during their lunch break. A few of our talented high school students from the Media Tech, Broadcasting, and Graphic Design pathway offered their expertise, providing a look into the dynamic world of media production. It was an awesome experience for all involved, fostering learning and inspiration throughout our school community.
ParentSquare
Parents/Guardians
We hope that you have seen notices that our district, school, teachers and coaches are moving to a system called ParentSquare to communicate with you.
On May 10, all our teachers will be trained on the system. Some "early adopters" are using ParentSquare now, so they can help their colleagues.
For a brief time, we will have two systems in use to communicate with you.
Messages sent by ParentSquare will look a little different than those sent from our old system.
One of the most notable changes is a new text message code.
ParentSquare messages will be from "66458." Our old system uses code "60680." We will stop using our old system at the end of the school year.
With ParentSquare, parents will be able to set preferences for when (instant or end of day) and how (e-mail, text, app) you get communication from your children's teachers, their schools, and the district.
After our teachers are trained in May, we will send more information to parents about how you can use the system, too!
We appreciate your patience and understanding while we transition to the new system to better meet your needs!
Enrollment for 2024/2025 School Year
Open enrollment is currently open for next year.
Open Enrollment:
In the Kuna School District, every school offers an excellent education for students. The district is committed to sustaining outstanding schools and fostering strong relationships between parents and teachers.
We recognize that some assigned school attendance areas may not meet the needs of families in our district, and there are families who live outside of our district boundaries and want to choose our schools for their children. Idaho law (33-1402) allows us to offer an opportunity to apply for a change of school through open enrollment.
Click here for more information about Open Enrollment.
Withdrawing
If you are not planning on returning to FMS next year, please let the office know. This helps us with our class planning and scheduling.
Checking Out To Go Home
Reminder that if a student needs to call a parent because they are sick or need to go home, they must come to the office and use the phone from there. Using their cell phone to make these calls is not allowed and violates our cell phone policy.
Chromebooks
Please remind your students to charge their Chromebooks at night. We don't have many extra Chromebooks for students to use during the day.
Student Behaviors
We're seeing an increase in student discipline referrals to the office lately. This includes rough-housing, cell phone usage, disrespect toward students and staff members, tardies, and off task behaviors in class. Please remind your student of their academic and social responsibilities in school.
