Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families,
We have certainly been busy at Hembree Springs this week. We had a visit from The State Department of Education on Tuesday to learn about all the great practices happening at Hembree Springs. It was great to hear the positive feedback from them. We have been working hard on our strategic plan for this year, and we are very intentional about using data to drive our plan. We have individually worked on goal setting to ensure the needs of all learners are met.
Fifth Grade Field Trip
Our fifth graders had a wonderful time on their special trip to multiple venues in Atlanta yesterday. They started the day with a tour around Zoo Atlanta, had lunch at Hard Rock Café, learned about the history of Coca-Cola and got to sample different sodas from around the world at the World of Coke, and ended the day with a sea lion show and a tour of the Georgia Aquarium. Check out the photos that have been uploaded to the Hawks Nest page on Facebook. Our charter bus drivers, booked through The Travel Store, said our students were some of the best kids they have had on a trip (and they do a LOT of trips!). We were so proud of how they represented Hembree Springs. A special thank you goes to our teachers and to our 12 parent chaperones for helping to keep all of the kids safe and for providing an enjoyable experience!
Attendance Matters
Please see the graphic below regarding attendance and late arrivals. Please help us meet our goals by ensuring our students are present at school and on time. Thanks for understanding!
Please Help Us!
It is that time of year again for the Annual Parent Perception Survey. We need your participation on this survey. The results impact our strategic plan goals and our school report card. Please see the letter below to take the survey. Thank you in advance for your participation.
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.
It’s not only parents we want to hear from. Our students’ opinions are important too! Students in grades 3-12 will be provided with the opportunity to take the Annual Student Perception Survey between October 17 and November 22 during the school day. In our ongoing efforts to remain transparent with parents, please take a moment to review the 3-5 student survey
The Annual Perception Survey is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you or your family would like to take it in a language that is not listed, please email your child’s principal.
The parent FAQ is now available in:
To access the parent survey, click https://www.fultonschools.org/AnnualParentSurvey or scan the QR code with a smartphone. Thank you in advance for making your voice heard!
We celebrated our students today with another best of the Nest celebration. I truly love this tradition and seeing all the students exhibiting our Hawks expectations.
P.S. The Georgia Game was amazing last weekend! No game this week.
Have a great weekend!

Red Ribbon Week 10/28-11/1
Book Character Day 10/31
On Thursday, October 31, 2024, we will be hosting a Story Book Character Day! On this day the staff and students may dress up as their favorite storybook character. We are asking that the character comes from a book that you have read and loved (not just from a movie or cartoon.)
Parents, please work with your child to plan a fun and simple homemade costume. We are asking that you work together to be creative with items around the house versus spending money on a store-bought costume. Your child may bring a copy of the book to class that day so that we can take part in several character study activities!
To help ensure students’ feelings of safety and security, violent or frightening costumes are not acceptable. No props, dangerous-looking items, or costume masks covering the face. Please reach out to your teacher with any questions.

Beanstack! Help us reach our school wide reading goal of 50,000 minutes!
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. This year, we have a schoolwide reading goal of 50,000 minutes! We can’t reach our goal without the help of your child! If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
