Nurses Corner
A Note from Nurse Kayla
Flu season is STILL here! Please help us slow the spread of illness by keeping your child home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms such as: body aches/chills, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, or an oral temperature of 100*F or above.
If your child has a fever of 100*F or above, they can only return to school 24 hours after their temperature is below 100*F without the use of fever-reducing medication.
If your child is experiencing vomiting or diarrhea, they may return to school after 24 hours of being symptom-free without the use of anti-nausea and/or anti-diarrheal medication.
Please remind your child to stay hydrated by bringing a bottle of water with them to school and make sure they have a plan for eating breakfast and lunch.
Thank you for helping us keep your children safe and healthy!

Alaska System of Academic Readiness (AK STAR)
AK STAR (Alaska System of Academic Readiness) testing is coming soon! Our state-mandated summative assessments are comprised of two assessments: AK STAR and Alaska Science.
April 10th - SCI test (8th grade only)
April 15th – AK STAR (ELA)
April 16th – AK STAR (Math)
AK STAR is a combination of a summative assessment and MAP growth. Students WILL NOT be taking the usual MAP assessments in the spring as in other years prior. The AK STAR will give a summative test score and also a MAP test score (but all in one test). With this being said, we will be using this data for course placement for the 2023-2024 school year. It is very important your students is in attendance for these tests. If you have questions regarding the AK STAR, please contact your alpha counselor.
