5th Grade Futures Fair
This year we started a project that I was very excited about and the end result was amazing! We believe it's very important to give kids the opportunity to think about what they want to be when they grow up. Believe it or not, some kids don't think about it much and they struggle to understand the purpose of school. Because of that, we started this project.
Throughout the year students engaged in a research project, combined with a number of lessons in their classes where they had the opportunity to learn about a variety of professions. Not only did they engage in research in the class and through lessons, they also had the opportunity to visit a career fair at the High School where then were given the opportunity to interview professionals from a number of fields. Through it all kids were collecting their research and this week they had an opportunity to present their findings at our first annual Futures Fair.
The projects were amazing! I was thoroughly impressed with our kids ability to present their findings and I was surprised at the variety of professions that our kids chose. Enjoy some of the pictures from the week!
