Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe, Try Your Best

January 31, 2025
I Love to Read Month
February is I Love to Read Month. See our first activity below! We will have more information and calendars coming soon.
Literacy at Home Ideas!
- If you or your child are reading chapter books; use a bookmark.
- Have a conversation: talk to your child as often as possible. Try to use advanced vocabulary as children understand oral language more naturally than reading. Your child understands words spoken to them that they might not be able to read, yet!
- Have your child tell you a story, or you can tell them a story.
- Create a story with your child including his/her name and actions.
- Have your child practice reading signs on the road or at the grocery store.
- Listen to audiobooks in the car.
Current 5th Grade Families
Incoming 6th grade parents are invited to attend the parent information night at the Middle School.
Date: Thursday, April 17th
Time: 5:30pm - 6:30pm
Location: Northfield Middle School Auditorium
Jazz Band
The NHS Jazz Band performed for us this morning! They did a fantastic job and our students enjoyed the performance!!
Student Illnesses
We are seeing a higher number of students out due to illness. The most common diagnoses are influenza A , strep throat and stomach flu. We don’t like to encourage students to stay home longer than needed, but please consider carefully before sending them back to school.
Here are some guidelines to help with your decision if you are not sure whether you should send your child to school; students in these situations should stay home:
If your student has had a temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours
If your child has vomited within the past 24 hours
If having your student at school would significantly put others at risk for catching your student’s illness
If your student will not be able to participate or focus on academics
If you have questions about when to send your child to school, please call our school nurse. Thank you for cooperating to keep our students healthy at Bridgewater Elementary.
A Note from Nurse Lucy:
Nurse Lucy is on the lookout for size 16 or any XL boys sweatpants. If you have any around, please donate them to us. Thank you!
Winter Reminders
Please send your student to school prepared with clothing appropriate for the changing temperatures. If your student is walking to school, please have them dressed appropriately for the cold temperatures.
If the temperature is warmer than 0 degrees and the wind chill is warmer than -10 degrees students will be outside for recess.
Kindergarten Tour Night
We are hosting our Kindergarten Tour Night on Monday, February 3rd from 5:00-6:30 for families with a child planning to attend kindergarten in the fall. This is a great opportunity for incoming kindergarten students to see the building, meet the teachers, and learn more about our school day. If you have any questions, please contact Kimberly Seaberg at 507-664-3303 or at kseaberg@northfieldschools.org.
