Summer greetings as our 24/24 school year comes to an end. As each year is, the last ten months have been a journey and we are proud of the growth and accomplishments of our STARs. Our final week together will be bittersweet as we celebrate and wish our eighth graders the absolute best as they enter high school. May they know the unconditional dedication and care that they will always have at North should they ever want to visit and say hello.
Our sixth and seventh graders will now grow forward, rising the the new expectations that we have for them as they enter the coming 24/25 school year. This new year begins in September and for North, it will be our 100th, serving our community of North Everett. Our 100th Birthday year will be filled with new opportunities as we enter a second century of education and service as a school. Please look for summer updates (emailed and posted) across the coming months as we prepare together to welcome our STARs back to campus in late summer.
On behalf of our entire team at North Middle, thank you for this opportunity to serve your child and family across this 23/24 school year. We are grateful to be together as part of our North Everett community.
Enjoy your summer and as always, goNorth!
With Gratitude,
Allison, Drew, & Tyler

Yearend Events & Expectations:
Each week, we outline and discuss our collective expectations as a school. Our final week of school will be no different in this regard except, we are hosting several yearend events/celebrations. As our STARs know/understand, their best will be expected as they work to "finish strong." If students are not able to meet these expectations, they will not take part in these yearend opportunities including yearbook opportunities, classroom events, Field Day, our yearend assembly, and for our eighth graders, our below-noted Celebration of Learning.
We value and appreciate your support in ensuring that our STARs work to finish and celebrate this 2023/24 school year together.
Eighth Grade - Celebration of Learning
On the evening of Tuesday, June 20th, we will have the opportunity to celebrate our eighth graders as they move up to become high schoolers next fall. For this eighth grade class, there three years at North represents one of the most unusual chapters of time in the 100 years of our school. This class of eighth graders entered as our community worked to exit the pandemic. Across the next three years, they grew into a class of leaders that has reshaped our school across this 2023/24 school year.
To celebrate their journey, students and their families will come together on June 20th for a two part evening. First, we will host a ceremony for families at 5:00pm. This will wrap around 6:00pm and after time with families, pictures, etc., our eighth graders will transition to their dance/party, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Please note details for each below.
Ceremony (5:00pm to 6:00pm):
- Students need to arrive by 4:45pm, and will check-in/gather in the Commons.
- Families will proceed to the main gym via the north gate/entrance near our turf field and Main gym. (Doors open at 4:30pm for seating)
- We will seat as many as we can in our gym stands and floor seating.
- To ensure room for families, students will be seated in the Commons for the start of the ceremony. They will view opening speeches via video before proceeding to the gym for their names/recognition.
- Professional pictures will be taken of each student as they cross the stage. These images are complimentary and will be available for student pick-up on Thursday.
- After the ceremony, students will meet their families outside as we turnaround the gym for the party.
8th Grade Party (6:00pm to 8:00pm):
- The party portion of our Celebration of Learning event is for students only, staffed by chaperones and North team members. Guests including sixth and seventh grade students are not invited (sorry).
- Our 8th Grade Party will include a DJ/dancing, games, activities, and food.
- If students leave the party/event, they will not be readmitted.
- Please make plans for how your child will be picked-up at 8:00pm.

Summer Reading program
As summer begins on Thursday (officially and from a school perspective), North is simultaneously launching our 2024 Summer Reading Program. This years theme, Summer's Greatest Hits, celebrates summertime joys including warm, relaxing afternoons, good music, and great books. North joins our Everett Public Schools and partners at the Everett Public Library and Sno-Isle Libraries in challenging our students to read across the coming summer months. This can be done my recording books read on the right-linked summer playlist. This will be turned in when students return in the fall for an invitation to our Welcome Back party. Additionally, students can participate in one of our local library summer reading programs, listed below, to earn prizes for reading.
Please take a look and help us in incentivizing your child to spend time each day reading over the summer. The benefits of doing so are tremendous while the absence of reading over the summer is exceptionally detrimental. Thank you for your support!
