MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Good Day All,
Almost all students have finished their iReady diagnostic assessment in both Math and Reading. This is a true diagnostic test that changes as the student answers questions to fully gauge how much they know. From the diagnostic, the iReady system then develops MyPath in both content areas. Each student's MyPath is tailor made to meet them where they are in order to build skills, address any gaps in knowledge or challenge them beyond grade level standards. Each MyPath is unique. Data indicates that students who complete 45 minutes of work in MyPath Reading and Math per week have shown significantly more growth than students who do not. Please partner with your student, and their Math & ELA teacher, to encourage MyPath completion every week using their iPad.
Currently, there are a lot of communication/information platforms available for teachers, students and parents/guardians. Here is my overly simplified explanation of each.
- Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS). This is where you can access assignments, notes, syllabus and feedback from teachers. Almost all of our teachers use Canvas daily to warehouse their curriculum materials so it’s a great place to see what’s missing and what’s happening in the classroom.
- Synergy (StudentVue & ParentVue) is a Student Information System. This is where you can track attendance, tardies and current/final grades.
- ParentSquare is a communication tool used to distribute emails, texts and newsletters.
For those of you who are new to our system, our weekly newsletter is the best way to stay informed of general school information and upcoming events.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we come to the end of our first month of school.

HAPPENINGS
ASA has begun!
It is never too late to sign up for ASA. We still have room in Chess,Magic the Gathering/Board Games and Basketball. Encourage your student to get involved! See details below:
- ASA runs September 23 - November 21 from 3:15-4:15 p.m.
- Activities are held Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
- There will be buses for students that would normally ride the bus after school.
- Contact FowlerASA@ttsd.k12.or.us with any questions.
- Here is the form that needs to be completed by your student. Students may bring the form, along with payment, to the Main Office, either when they get to school or during their lunch if they would like to participate.
ASA buses are up and running. There are three buses. Students locate the right bus to ride by finding their “normal” bus route located under each route:
It is VERY HELPFUL if your student knows their address
- Routes 1, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 14 will ride Bus 1. The first bus in line as they come out of the building.
- Routes 10, 13, 18, 20 and 22 will ride Bus 2. The second bus in line as they come out of the building.
- Routes 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 14 and 23 will ride Bus 3. The third bus in line as they come out of the building.
Routes 3, 10, 13 and 14 are listed in two places. Please help your student determine which bus makes more sense for them to ride.
TL = Turn Left; TR = Turn Right.
These buses DO NOT stop at the normal routes. They will stop at the turn closest to student’s homes that are on their bus any particular day. Please help your student determine which turn that is. It is MOST helpful if they can tell the bus driver when they get on the bus.
Finally, students must have a pink bus pass to board the bus at the end of ASAs. They will receive this from their ASA teacher when the activity is over.
8th Grade College Visit Day - October 10, 2024!
On Tuesday October 1st the 8th grade students will be asked to pick their top three choices between Oregon State University, Western Oregon University, Linfield University, Pacific University, George Fox University, Oregon Institute of Technology in Wilsonville, and Warner Pacific University.
On Thursday October 10th, our 8th grade students will visit one of those seven participating colleges. Students will have lunch at the college that they are attending for the day.
The students will leave Fowler between 9:00 and 9:30 and most visits will return by 2:00, except the OSU visit, who will arrive back to FMS closer to 3 pm.
Permission slips will be sent home on Tuesday October 1st, parents and guardians please be on the lookout.
The cost for lunch for this trip will be $10 per student, however, if you are in need of scholarship that option will be made available or if you would like to contribute to cover the cost for another student in need, you may choose that option on the permission slip.
The students will be assigned to which college campus they will be visiting by Friday October 4th.
8th grade parents and guardians that have already been cleared to volunteer will be sent an email for the option to chaperone.
We are excited to invite you to our Hispanic Heritage Celebration in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, 2024. The celebration will be held at Fowler Middle School on October 16, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM, and we are aiming to make this year’s event even more memorable than the last!
Last year’s celebration was filled with incredible dishes shared by our families and generous contributions from local Tigard businesses. It was a true community effort, with collaboration from CFT, MWW, MET, and THS. We are hoping to build on that success this year. We would love to see more families share a dish from their culture, though it’s completely optional. Sign up here to let us know what you will be bringing.
As we continue to organize this event, we’re welcoming the support of parents and local businesses. Your participation—whether it’s through contributing a dish, donating, or simply attending—will help make this celebration a wonderful reflection of our diverse community.
Thank you in advance for being part of this special event. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!

HELPFUL TIDBITS
Information regarding deliveries for students:
For a variety of reasons (including safety), we do NOT accept food deliveries from DoorDash, Uber Eats, GrubHub or other delivery services for students during the school day. This also includes floral deliveries and/or balloon deliveries for celebrations.
We DO accept deliveries from parents/guardians: homework, iPads, lunches and any other necessary items. We will communicate with the student that the item is there in order for them to know it can be picked up in the Main Office.
BUS NOTES: Students riding home with a friend need to bring a written note from their parent/guardian that includes the student name that they will be riding home with and the bus number they will be riding. The note should be brought to the Main Office PRIOR to the end of the day for a stamp. (Example: Mickey Mouse has my permission to ride bus number 56 home with Donald Duck today, 9/15/23. Parent Signature.) Parents may email permission to fowleroffice@ttsd.k12.or.us and we will get the note signed and to your student.
