St Peter's Primary School
Friday 13th October 2023
Dear God,
Please bless my grandparents. and for the life, they give to me.
For the ways they helped me and made me strong, I give thanks.
For the ways, they love me no matter what, I rejoice.
Amen
Message from the Principal
PRE PRIMARY – YEAR 6 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL - On Thursday, our Pre Primary to Year 6 classes participated in our St Peter’s Primary School Athletics Carnival held at Noranda Sporting Complex. We loved having our Pre Primary students join us for the first half of the day! Thank you to all the parents in the crowd who jumped the fence to help stop the tent being carried away by the wind. We were blessed with beautiful weather for the event, and it was wonderful to witness healthy competition, teamwork, and great sportsmanship. Thank you to Miss Eliza Hardie for her hard work and commitment in organising such a successful carnival! Thank you to the parents that volunteered on the day. It takes many hands to ensure the smooth running of a carnival, so we appreciate you volunteering your time. Also, a huge shout out to the 24 parents who came forward for the parent, teacher, student final relay – it was the highest number of parent participants to date!
GRANDPARENTS’ MORNING TEA - Thank you to all our grandparents and treasured caregivers for joining us for morning tea today. It was a great opportunity for the children to show their grandparents their classroom and to also show gratitude for all the amazing things their grandparents do. Grandparents are a major part of our community, and today’s morning tea was a perfect way to recognise the important role our grandparents play in our students’ lives and the unconditional love they have for family.
TERM 4 RECESS AND LUNCH UPDATE - As mentioned last term, we have adjusted our timetables and rosters to ensure adequate play space for all students whilst our Early Childhood construction is underway. During the final two weeks of Term 3, students were rostered on to specific play spaces to guarantee every student had the opportunity to access the different play spaces around the school.
Although we received positive feedback from duty teachers regarding the rostered play areas, this term we will trial split lunch time breaks. Leadership will then be able to compare and review the two different options prior to 2024, to allow us to make an informed decision regarding break times and play space in 2024. During Term 4, the whole school will have recess from 10:25-10:45am and there will be two lunch breaks, meaning half the school will be out playing at 12:25pm and the other half at 1:15pm. This split lunch break will provide students with the opportunity to access play spaces around the school with half the number of students.
Whole School Recess: 10:25-10:45am
Lunch One (PP, Yr 1, Yr 4, Yr 6): 12:25-1:05pm
Lunch Two (K, Yr 2, Yr 3, Yr 5): 1:15-1:55pm
This updated schedule for Term 4 aims for all students to have adequate play space, with every child having the opportunity to engage in quality play experiences. If you have any questions regarding changes to the specialist timetable or break times for Term 4 for your child’s specific class, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.
KINDY – YEAR 6 END OF YEAR CONCERT - At the end of last term, I shared the exciting news that our Kindy-Year 6 End of Year Concert will be held on the evening of
Thursday 30 November 2023. The concert will commence at 6:00pm and be held at
Catherine Reserve (Rosebery St & Catherine St, Bedford). As per previous years, our Pre-Kindy class will have their own end of year celebration in the library.
All families are invited to BYO a picnic dinner from 5pm, before each year level will be called over the microphone at 5:45pm to come forward to their designated class area in front of the stage, to ensure the concert can begin at 6pm and conclude by 7pm. To ensure the smooth and timely running of the concert, all students will need to remain seated with their class for the duration of the concert, and students will be released to their parents or caregiver at the conclusion of the event.
As this year it is an evening concert, the invitation is being extended to parents and grandparents. It also means that all our families will be able to watch all children participate in the one concert.
As outlined in the letter at the end of Term Three, each cohort will perform a dance that contributes to the theme ‘When I Grow Up.’ This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents and demonstrate what they have learnt during dance lessons this term. During intermission and at the end of the concert, the students and community will join in singing a few Christmas carols together. On the evening, our school will provide you with copy of the program for the night, so everyone will be able to join in the carols.
This is an Alcohol-Free event and families are invited to BYO one family picnic rug and/or picnic chairs. As it is a public venue, picnic rugs and chairs can be placed in the marked designated seating area only from 4pm onwards. Audience seating will be split into two sections, with picnic rugs being assigned the area in front of those on picnic chairs. A map of the venue including details for parking and seating will be communicated closer to the event.
We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
Have a lovely weekend!

This week, we had a wonderful celebration of our grandparents in our community, starting with a Grandparents' Mass for our Year 5 grandparents. The Mass was a beautiful and heartwarming event that brought together grandparents, parents, and students.
The Mass was held on Friday 13th October over at the Church. It began with a warm welcome from Mr Nettleton, who expressed gratitude for all the grandparents who had taken out time to attend the event. Students commenced the Mass by walking in symbols that reflect the wonderful qualities our school, our faith and our grandparents, before students and their grandparents participated in readings and prayers. At the end of Mass, a short video of the Year 5 children with their grandparents was played.
During the Mass, the homily was centered on family values, emphasising the vital role that grandparents played in impacting their grandchildren's lives positively. It was a moving message that left everyone feeling uplifted and inspired.
After the Mass, the grandparents were treated to refreshments back at school with other grandparents from the community, which gave them the chance to mingle with other grandparents and parents. The school provided a beautiful opportunity for everyone to connect and build relationships within the school community.
We are incredibly grateful to all the grandparents who attended the grandparent Mass, and we hope they had a memorable experience. We look forward to welcoming them back to our school in the future.
A huge thank you to the Year 5 teachers for preparing a truly special Mass.
