REMINDER:
Fowler School has “KICKED OFF” our first ever “SOUP-ER-BOWL.” While this school-wide competition is a play on words, the mission is serious. “Team Fowler” will be working as a whole-school community to support the greater Maynard community. All collected items will be counted, organized, and delivered to the Maynard Food Pantry. Details are below:
Start Date: January 29th
End Date: February 7th (Friday before the NFL Super Bowl)

Students will record their class total daily on a data sheet. The data will be submitted to the office.
Each morning, the top three classes and top grades will be announced.
At the end of the 8-day challenge, there will be a class and grade winners.
The top class will have their HR teacher’s name and year engraved on a trophy.
The top grade will have a 30-minute outdoor recess with Mr. Kinney and Mr. Snyder.

Spelling Bee Results
On Monday, January 27, 2025, the spectators collected in the library to watch a spelling bee for the ages. 17 contestants, well prepared and rested, including our 2024 champion, Salvatore Cerro, squared off to determine who would leave victorious, title in hand. In just under one hour’s time, the field was whittled to the final three spellers. At this point, we were well into the “unknown” word list, meaning these were words they had not studied beforehand. Ida Solomon-Roar, Katie Teague, and Cal Mathison squared off with the word pallbearer getting the best of 8th grader, Ida Solomon-Roar. Katie Teague, a fifth grader, and Cal Mathison, a seventh grader remained. The next round found Katie meeting her match with the word, bayou. This left Cal Mathison to secure their win by spelling the word sabbath, which they did with confidence and ease, securing their title as Fowler’s 2025 Scripps School Champion. Congratulations to all 17 contestants and congratulations to Cal Mathison. All represented Fowler and their caregivers well, with grace and sportsmanship.
