Just 2 weeks left in the 1st Quarter! Thank you to the PAC and PTSO parents who met with me last week to discuss 24 – 25 plans and to discuss ways that we can continue to improve. Please find Potomac Senior High School updates below:

+ ACADEMIC AWARDS: Our Fall Academic Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 9am in the Potomac High School Auditorium. The ceremony is based on student achievement from the 23 - 24 school year. Award recipients will be notified via individual letters distributed at school as well as a letter mailed home to families with additional details. Please contact your student’s School Counselor with questions.

+ VCAW: Virginia College Application Week (VCAW) will be held during the week of October 21st - October 25th for Seniors. During this week, PSHS will encourage Seniors to participate in various workshops, talks, etc. relative to college preparation. On October 24th and October 25th during lunchtime, Seniors will be able to submit select COMPLETED college applications for FREE! Please reference the listing of participating colleges on the VCAW flyers below.

+ POTOMAC ATTENDANCE UPDATE: Attention Potomac Parents! Parents may now submit attendance and notes for the same day and up to 30 days in the future, and upload supporting documentation such as doctor’s notes directly through ParentVUE. School personnel will verify all submissions.

· Login to ParentVUE

· Click the Report Absence blue button from the Home screen to the right of the student's name

· Start Date: defaults to the current date, but parent/guardian may select a date up to 30 days in the future.

· End Date: the last expected date the student is expected to be out absent.

· Type: Pre-arranged EXC. This is the only option.

· Notes: enter the reason for the absence.

· If you have supporting documentation, click the Add doctor’s note or document button to upload the documentation. If a document needs to be deleted, click the minus sign to the left of the document name.

· Click Save and a status window will appear confirming the submission - Click OK

Parents are also able to email scanned notes directly to our Attendance Office using: pshs-attendance@pwcs.edu.

+ PICTURE MAKE-UP DATES: Please see the flyer below for information on your Senior Portraits! Students who have not taken portraits yet will be prioritized over students wanting retakes. Students who have not taken pictures should have received an email from Lifetouch with their access code information.

If you do not have access due to recently having your grade level changed, or cannot find your access code, please email Ms. Sadler at SADLERCL@PWCS.EDU

All other issues should be directed to the number and/or email provided on the flyer.

· Join CASA for their 2nd Annual Fall Festival on October 26th! CASA Virginia will be hosting their 2nd Annual Fall Festival on October 26th, 2024 from 11 am to 4 pm. Come out with your family to enjoy a day of fun activities! See the attached flyer for more information.
