Weekly Update
Holy Trinity Catholic School -- April 18th, 2024
Prayer
Lord, as I prepare to begin another day of work, I seek Your guidance, presence, and blessing in every step I take. I understand that my work is not merely a means of earning a living but an opportunity to serve and make a difference in the world. Help me to approach my responsibilities with a servant’s heart, always seeking to bring glory to Your name. Fill me with Your wisdom and discernment as I make decisions, ensuring that they align with Your will. I am grateful for the opportunities and blessings You have given me. May Your hand be upon my work, and may I experience the fruits of my labor as I remain steadfast in following Your path.
Amen
A Note from Mrs. Longden
This week we had a special visit from Mr. Ed Foy, the new Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He became Superintendent last August and made a goal this year to visit all the schools in the Archdiocese. Mr. Foy met with Father Patrick and myself and also was given a tour of the school. He was very impressed with the school. He made comments about how quiet the students are in the hallways and the respect from them. He also said that this is a very calm atmosphere and he could feel the warm, loving environment we have created. Mr. Foy said we should be proud of the way the school looks and feels. Teachers were happy and students were engaged in their learning. Thank you parents for your help with this as well!
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
THEME
"Sit with Me," He whispered amidst the chaos of my prayer and my mind. "Just sit with Me."
These were the words I heard in my heart as I knelt in front of the Tabernacle unloading my heart to the Lord. I had so many thoughts going through my head, so many things on my to-do list for the rest of the day, and so much weighing on my heart. But right in the middle of me expressing my desire to be able to "do it all" and asking Him, "how am I going to make this work?" All He asked of me was to be present to Him so that He could be present to me.
We get used to the constant busyness and no time for prayer and that becomes a habit. We get used to making the same mistakes over and over again, and that becomes a habit. We get used to doing it all on our own without asking for help, from others or God, and that becomes a habit.
But if you remember the story of the Woman at the Well, Jesus is trying to point out the things that are keeping us from Him, and how He can help us heal from those things.
As you move throughout your day, here's a little reminder to make time for prayer, to just sit with Him, even if you don't think there's anything on your heart to say, God might have something to say to you. I invite and encourage you, to just sit in the silence and let Him love you.
Great to be Grateful
Safe Environment Week
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has always recognized the important month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year, they have also designated April 21st – April 27th as Safe Environment Week. In doing so, they help to ensure that every parish and school, as well as the entire faith community, focuses at the same time on the importance of keeping our children and youth safe. The theme this year for Safe Environment Week is: “Protecting our Children starts with working as a Community on Prevention”. This week is a good time to highlight the importance of healthy children, healthy families, and a healthy community.
Attached are some resources from the Archdiocese to help form healthy children families, and communities.
8th Grade Fashion Day
Tuesday, April 23rd is our next 8th grade fashion day.
The day is NEON DAY. Let's see those neon colors!
Social Fest Class Baskets
Social Fest Auction
Class Baskets:
Class projects this year will be a basket provided by each class.
We are looking for one parent from each class to help with the organizing and execution of this auction item. We will be combining Middle School (6th-8th grade) as one basket.
Tasks include:
- Decide on a theme/idea for the basket
- Ask other class parents for items to fill the basket
- Email classroom teacher so they know what is coming and how to help
- Fill the basket and return to school by July 16th, 2024
Each class basket will have a unique theme. The goal is for the entire class to help solicit the items to fill the basket. Maximum value of the basket would be $500. Please see how you can help.
We are hoping these themed baskets will be a BIG HIT in our Auction again this year...these baskets can range from a night on the town for Mom and Dad, to a family trip to Virginia Beach, and a Family Game Night basket for everyone to enjoy, plus much, much more! We are asking that all parents participate in some way to support your class basket. Parents can purchase gift cards or vouchers for the basket, or donate money that will go toward the purchase of items. Questions? Have an idea for a donation for your class basket?
If you are interested in helping with your child's class, please reach out to Mrs. Longden by April 26th.
Still in need of volunteers for 3K, 5K, 5th, and 6th-8th.
Thank you to those parents that have volunteered so far.

Playground Update
Playground updates:
We are working with the concrete company to have a solid date for adding the concrete to the playground. Once this is complete, we will be able to add 4-square and a kickball field.
We will then be able to add volleyball poles and nets when we know what area we have, along with tetherball.
Our hope is to remove the sports flooring in the library and be able to put that outside under the Gaga Ball pit.
Library Remodel Updates
Library update:
We are currently working on removing the books from the library shelves and getting it ready to be emptied out. Students will finish library at the end of April. We will use the month of May to clean out the library. Over the summer the plan is to repaint the area and add new flooring. We will then get different furniture and have flexible seating available. We are also looking at updating books. The layout is in the works. Watch for more details.

Human Growth and Development Resources
This will be held at St. Frances Cabrini.
Here is the information they sent us:
Dear Families,
We have made some adjustments, this year, to the Human Growth and Development Resources that we offer you as parents. You as parents are the primary educators of your children, and as a school, we support you in many different ways. One of those ways has been to offer some basic resources to help families prepare their children for puberty.
This year, we have expanded this opportunity with parents of daughters. In combination with the Archdiocese, we are offering a class called "Cycle Prep by Pearl and Thistle". This class is intended to be taken by a parent and child together, and can be done at the time that feels most appropriate for your family. We’ll be offering the class every year, and you as parents can decide whether your daughter is ready for it in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade.
This class presents the biological and medical side of puberty, but also uses a lens of faith to help our girls understand the changes they’re experiencing, and what they mean. We are excited to be one of the first to offer this and will be opening this up to surrounding schools as well.
To learn more about the class and to register, please see the attachment.
Thank you!
