SDIRC STEAM Designation
STEAM Unified Mission
To provide equitable and inclusive STEAM learning experiences that prepare SDIRC students for the 21st century.
STEAM Purpose
SDIRC STEAM education fosters creativity and innovative thinking. Interdisciplinary STEAM learning experiences promote inquiry, technology integration, and authentic project-based learning that is connected to the real world. In the STEAM classroom, partnerships reach beyond the walls of the school to include higher education and community organizations.
STEAM Designation Process
Summer: Schools fill out the participation form if they are interested in participating in the program.
Fall: Schools develop and implement STEAM plans for the school year.
Fall and Spring: SDIRC STEAM Team conducts school visits to review implementation of the plan and conduct classroom walkthroughs. Schools self assess their progress and feedback is provided. School collects evidence towards rubric indicators.
End of the Year: Schools present their work at the STEAM Showcase. Schools are evaluated on the implementation of STEAM using the rubric.
