Note From Principal Graham
Next week we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. As a way to say "thank you" to our teachers, we have created a special treat that teachers could get each day from their students. If you would like to participate, we know the teachers would appreciate the kindness starting on Monday, May 6th. The flyer below has the ideas for each day. Thank you for spreading some kindness!

OGE School Counselors
These 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who completed at least one reading log in the past month were invited to a reading party in the Library on Friday, April 26th. They got to choose prizes from the RED (Read Every Day) cart, colored a bookmark, and had some independent reading time. This was the final RED Activity for this school year.
"Bugs" in the Library
Kindergarten students at OGES researched bugs in the Library with Mrs. Brazell, School Librarian. They used credible online sources and nonfiction books to find information. They created this video to share their information with you.
500 Steps! Congratulations Demi!
We have a first grade student who has reached 500 steps in her RED reading log!
Congratulations to Demi Ms. Howell’s class. Demi has her name on the RED Reading Wall for getting to 50 steps and has received five free books this school year - one for each time she completed another 100 steps. Her picture will be posted on a special spot outside the library for reaching 500 steps
Who Was Caught This Week?
Our school motto is Be Kind, Work Hard, Be Brave. As students are witnessed showing these qualities, teachers and staff put that student's name in for a weekly drawing. Those students whose names are drawn are announced on the Friday's OGE News Show and then meet with Principal Graham in the office where they are congratulated, have their picture taken for the school newsletter and given a prize. We are always so proud of every student for doing the right thing and showing that they are being kind, working hard and being brave.
Maggie was caught being brave
Jayden was caught working hard
Cameron was caught working hard
Laila was caught working hard
Austin was caught working hard
Mason was caught working hard

Celebrating Finishing State Testing
Ms. Byrd's 3rd grade class celebrated finishing State Testing with having lunch outside on a lovely day in the courtyard.
PreK Pool Time
Ms. Shuman's PreK students had a wonderful time on their "pool day" this week. They earned it and went home very tired from all the fun they had. Even the teachers got wet but also had a great time seeing their students smiling and playing with each other.
Robots Take Over The STEM Lab
Throughout the last month, students from first to fifth grade had the opportunity to delve into the realm of robotics within our STEM Lab. In first grade, students were introduced to the innovative Go Mouse. Second graders explored a variety of robotic technologies, including Cublets and Botley, broadening their understanding of programming principles. Third graders delved into the capabilities of Dash, applying their coding skills to direct its movements and even launch balls with precision. Meanwhile, fourth graders delved into the fascinating world of Hex Bugs, microrobots with unique personalities. They crafted mazes to challenge and engage these tiny marvels. Culminating the activities, fifth graders designed intricate mazes and programmed Dash to navigate through them, showcasing their proficiency in coding and problem-solving. The integration of robotics across grade levels has enriched our students' learning experiences, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and technological literacy.
