WINTER WONDERLAND INTO SOME FUN: WAYS TO DECOMPRESS, RELAX, RESET AND ENJOY SOME FUN!
This time of the year can be exciting, filled with joy, difficult, sad and bring many different emotions and feelings for everyone. So, I encourage you all to use this time to bring a sense of joy and happiness into your life however that may look; as family, coworkers, with friends or even just with yourself! See below some engaging stress reducing, endorphin releasing (the happy hormone) and just some good ole fashion fun activities you can partake in around the DMV area and even out of town if you're traveling this winter break!

Saturday Academy
Saturday Academy will resume again on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Session 1 begins at 9:00 am and Session 2 begins at 10:30 am.
In January, we will also include AP Computer Science Principles.
Saturday Academy is open to all CMIT South students free of charge. We look forward to seeing you!
BRING YOUR REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE TO SCHOOL
Students should bring a REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE to use throughout the school day.
Students can no longer drink directly from the water fountain.
*Please note that all water fountains were converted in to water dispensers in 2021.*

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
DR. E.B HENDERSON ESSAY CONTEST
For the second consecutive year, the Washington Wizards are hosting an essay contest for high school students! The contest is held in partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League to honor Dr. Edwin Bancroft (E.B) Henderson, a sports historian, educator, administrator, coach, athlete, and civil rights activist known as the 'Grandfather of Black Basketball' in Washington, D.C.
To celebrate and honor Dr. E.B. Henderson’s passion for education and his pursuit for equal rights, participants will submit a 350-word essay describing their passion and goals for the future and what one of the biggest challenges they will face in pursuing their dreams.
This year the contest is open to all DMV high school seniors. The top three essay winners will win a monetary scholarship towards their continued education or college of their choice. The grand prize winner will receive $3,000, the second-place winner will receive $2,000 and the third-place finisher will receive $1,000 courtesy of the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation. Winners will also be recognized in-game at a selected Wizards home game and on Wizards’ digital platforms.
All students who submit an essay that fits the criteria of the contest will receive two complimentary tickets to a select home game during the 2022-23 season.
Deadline to submit essay is Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST

The CMIT South High School Speciality Program Showcase will occur on January 6th and 7th. Come see, hear, and experience what it's like to be in our High School Programs: Amazon Future Engineers (Computer Science| Engineering), Information Technology Early College Program (ITEC), Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

1st Quarter - Honor Roll Breakfast Celebration
CMIT SOUTH PTO PARENT VOLUNTEERS ROCK!!!
On 12/21, we celebrated and fed 592 (329 Middle School and 263 High School) scholars who achieved Principal's Honor Roll and Honor Roll!
🗣Huge shout out to the Class of 2023 who had 46 scholars to achieve Principal's Honor Roll!
