The Comet Connection 8.18.23
A look into what's going on at Rosebud ES!
August 18, 2023
A Note from our Principal, Mrs. Holmes
Happy Friday, Families!
It's been another great week at Rosebud! It was wonderful getting to see familiar faces and meet new families at Curriculum Night last night. I hope that everyone had a chance to stop by the PTA table and will consider joining this great organization who does so much for our students!
I wanted to let you know that our ID Check security system is up and running now, so please make sure you have your ID with you when you come to the school for check out or lunch. All visitors are required to scan their ID when entering the building and must remain in the vestibule until the student comes down for checkout or until the designated time to enter.
Last, I'm asking you to participate in a school-wide exhibit. We are the proud Rosebud Comets!!! Just like the galaxy, we have many beautiful and bright stars that attend Rosebud Elementary School. Each one of our stars (students) is beautiful in their own unique way. In this Friday's folder, you will find a star. Parents, work with your child to design the star in a way that represents your child and send it back to Rosebud by Friday, September 8th so we can hang them along our Galaxy mural! We want each and every student represented!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Play 2 Learn
Play 2 Learn is a program for children from birth to 5 years old and their parents. This program is focused on building the capacity in parents to be their child’s first and best teacher as well as providing an opportunity for students to be in a group setting to play and learn. The program is FREE.
Please contact Valerie Jackson or Brandi Patterson for more information.

Important Reminders
Does your child have an upcoming birthday? Looking for a unique way to celebrate?
You can help make your child's birthday extra special by putting their name in lights! For $15, you can have your child's name displayed on our school marquee as well as on the schoolwide eClass page for a day. Place your order on mypaymentsplus.com.
- Please remember that student checkout stops at 2:00 each day, as we begin to prepare for dismissal at that time.
- We understand that transportation changes can occur on occasion. Please be sure to email RosebudTransportation@gcpsk12.org by 12noon to communicate any changes to our staff.
- All parents that enter the building must have an ID on them. Please make sure to always have your ID with you when visiting Rosebud ES for any reason.
It's school supply season! But three key things your child needs for school success can't be bought: concentration, organization and motivation. To help your child acquire them, set a regular study time and create a place to read or work that is as distraction-free as possible. Teach your child to use calendars and checklists to keep track of responsibilities. Most importantly, talk together each day about school and the new skills and concepts your child is learning.
