Portsmouth West High School hosted its annual Veterans Day Assembly where area veterans were honored. Guest speaker veteran Sam McKibbin discussed the importance of honoring our veterans and informed the spectators of the various veterans services available in our region. Posting the Colors of American Legion Post 471 were veterans Roger Gillum, Kenny Taylor, and Rick Airwood. Also recognized were the memorial monuments that were placed near our football field. The WWII memorial was originally housed at the old high school but has now found its new home with the Korean War Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial monuments surrounding the flagpole.
