Cold Weather
As temperatures drop, please send your child to school with a warm jacket, hat, and gloves/mittens. When the snow falls, students will also need snow pants and boots to play in the snow. Even in cold weather, students go outside for recess as long as the temperature and real feel are above zero.
DPC Bucks Fundraiser
The DPC has partnered with the Milwaukee Bucks for two games this season. A portion of ticket sales for Dunwiddie families will go to the DPC.
The first game is January 19th and tickets need to be purchased by December 27th. They can be purchased here.
The second game is February 9 and tickets need to be purchased by January 17th. They can be purchased here.

Dear Family,
As you know, we are using the Second Step program as a resource to teach students during their SEL class period. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn.
To help make our school even more safe and supportive, we are also going to use the Second Step Child Protection Unit. In this unit, your child will learn the following specific skills to help him or her stay safe from dangerous or abusive situations:
● How to use the “Ways to Stay Safe” to recognize when something is unsafe, report anything unsafe to an adult, and refuse to participate
● How to always ask a parent or the person in charge first before going somewhere, doing something, or accepting something from someone
● How to recognize safe, unsafe, and unwanted touches, and how to use the “Private Body Parts Rule’’
● How to refuse and report unsafe or unwanted touches and how to report broken touching rules to an adult
If you do not want your child to participate in the Child Protection Unit lessons, please contact your child’s teacher.
For more information on our school’s child protection policies and procedures, check our school website or contact the school office.
Thank you for helping us make our school a safe and supportive place where everyone can learn.
If you have any questions about the Child Protection Unit or the Second Step program, please contact me.
Sincerely, Caitlin Zozakiewicz,
DES School Psychologist

Attendance
If your child will not be at school or will be tardy, please use Infinite Campus to report the absence. Here is a "how to" video: Absence Requests in Infinite Campus
The attendance line is currently still an option but we prefer parents use Infinite Campus
Please complete the Pre-Excused Absence Form prior to any pre-planned absences. Completed forms will need to be returned to the office.
Reporting an absence is important and necessary even if you have contacted your child's teacher.
Arrival & Dismissal
Arrival procedures for all students:
All students must enter through the front/main entrance. For safety reasons, the back and side doors are not used as an entrance in the morning and are locked at all times.
Students should not arrive on school property until 8:20 as there is no supervision.
Dismissal is at 3:30pm daily. Please make sure your child's teacher knows how he/she will get home each day. If your child will be picked up by a parent (or family member/friend), please indicate if they will be picked up in back or front of school. If your pick-up plan changes during the day/week, please send this update to both the teacher and the main office.
Drop off/Pick up and Parent Parking – Due to the high volume of vehicles coming and going during drop-off and pick-up times, a bit of traffic and congestion is inevitable. Student safety is always our primary concern throughout the school day.
We would like to offer the following suggestions to maximize safety and efficiency for all:
- The drive through lane in front of school is for drop and go only. If you would like to get out to say good-bye, or if your child needs assistance with a car seat, etc., please park in the lot and walk your child to the door if they need assistance or to say your good-byes.
- Cars are expected to pull all the way to the end of the drive through to avoid long lines that extend into Lincoln Ave.
- Please have children exit the car along the sidewalk, and not in the drive through if at all possible
