Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Families,
We are launching our effort to lobby state lawmakers on behalf of our district and community. Governor Mike DeWine’s budget proposal would hurt our district’s funding and hurt our students. We need you to use your voice to help Columbus lawmakers understand the impact budget cuts would have on our district.
Governor DeWine has proposed reductions in the school funding “guarantee.” The school funding system can be difficult to understand, but the “guarantee” determines how much state funding flows to districts like Loveland. The budget proposal would cut $2.5 million in state funds for Loveland over the next five years. Public education in Ohio is a shared state and local responsibility. Property taxes paid by homeowners are the primary source of local funding for Loveland City Schools. Reducing state funding for our district means more reliance on local taxes, which could mean larger, more frequent property tax levy requests to fund our schools.
Through our Strategic Vision process, Community Advisory Team, and State School Funding Committee, our community has asked district leadership to advocate for solutions to Loveland’s unique state funding challenges. Together, we have identified three requests of our lawmakers:
Protect the “Guarantee”
Fully Implement the Fair School Funding Plan with updated inputs
Increase the State Share Minimum to 20%
To help explain these topics and provide a roadmap for action, we’ve created a page on our website: lovelandschools.org/lobby. There, you will find a one-page flyer that gives important data points about our district and more information about our funding requests. You’ll also find a list of lawmakers, their contact information, and the best time to reach out.
We are asking that everyone call, email, and send letters to lawmakers in Columbus. Tell them what Loveland City School means to you and your kids, and encourage them to prevent budget cuts that would impact our district.
Thank you to Treasurer John Espy, who traveled to Columbus last week and provided testimony to the House Finance Committee. You can watch his testimony by following this link to the Ohio House website. He begins at the 42-minute mark.

Community Advisory Team Meeting #4
Last week, our Community Advisory Team (CAT) met to learn about our district facilities and what goes into operating our school buildings. Members of the CAT have been meeting with us throughout the school year to learn more about our district and provide us with valuable feedback so we can continue to improve. Thank you to everyone who committed their time and effort to this work. We’ll be launching applications for next year’s CAT soon! Exploring Careers
The LMS 8th Grade Students jumped right into career exploration and awareness activities on Tuesday this week. After reflecting on personal skills, strengths, and interests, the students participated in the 2025 Junior Achievement Inspire to Hire Career Fair at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. This regional event highlights the many in-demand opportunities available to students as they consider pathways to success in the future. Many thanks to all who played a role in making this day a success!
Find Your Stripes Day
Students at Loveland Elementary School celebrated “Find Your Stripes Day” on Friday. This unique event allows third and fourth-grade students to explore interesting high school classes and clubs and begin thinking about career exploration. Students selected learning sessions of their choice, and students from Loveland High School served as guest presenters. Keynote speeches were delivered by Superintendent Mike Broadwater and LPS counselor Darcie Chandler, who brought along her therapy dog, Jordy! They both told stories about their career journeys. Thank you to the many volunteers and hard-working staff members who made this special day a success!
