10/4/24 OG DISTRICT NEWS
October 4, 2024
Dear Oak Grove Families,
By now, you’ve likely heard the exciting news that Oak Grove School has been named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious honor, the highest any school can earn, reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence our entire school community continues to demonstrate.
While the recognition is thrilling, it also serves as a reminder of what makes Oak Grove School so special—the high academic standards, innovative learning opportunities, and strong sense of community that have shaped us into one of the best schools in the nation.
As we head into October, we look forward to celebrating this achievement together and continuing the work that defines Oak Grove’s success. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this milestone, and here's to a wonderful month ahead!

School Safety Updates
At Oak Grove School, the safety of our students and staff is always a top priority. This past month, we successfully completed a fire drill and an Active Intruder drill to ensure everyone is prepared in an emergency. These exercises are essential for creating a secure environment and helping students and staff stay calm and informed during critical situations.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and commitment to safety as we continue to make Oak Grove a safe and supportive place to learn and grow!
We are thrilled to announce that the U.S. Department of Education has recognized Oak Grove School District 68 as a National Blue Ribbon School! This prestigious honor is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and community. It's the second time in our school's history that we've received this distinction, and it is truly the highest honor any school can achieve.
Oak Grove was recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School, placing us among the top-performing districts not only in Illinois but across the country. This award reflects the incredible efforts of our entire Oak Grove family—past and present—and we couldn't be prouder.
Oak Grove Band students participated in the LHS Marching Festival and played on the field with the Marching Wildcats Band during the PreGame and the Halftime show.
They rehearsed with the high school band and saw how the organization supports the school and community. Middle schoolers met high school Band Buddies, had pizza together, and cheered the football team on from the stands with lots of music! It was a great night!
