January 2025
Message from School Leadership
Positive Astros Families,
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed your winter break and were able to make new core memories with family and friends. We are excited to continue to focus on Building Leaders with Grit and Glue as we transition into the third and fourth quarters of this school year. With the data from our midyear assessments, we’re going to hit the ground running in the third quarter. We’re using that GRIT to push forward, work hard, and meet the expectations of grade level standards. The Glue has already started to set as we see students flourishing in the connections and relationships, they’re making this school year.
As we move into a new year, many people take a moment to consider New Year Resolutions. Resolutions are a fun way for your family to form good habits. Some good resolutions for elementary-aged children could include reading each evening together as a family, practicing the 7 habits at home, and/or practicing math facts for 10 minutes each morning. All of these resolutions are not only helping at home, but supporting what we do here at NAE. As our students return, all classrooms will review our school-wide goals, as well as individual academic and personal goals, in the Student Leadership Notebooks. Students will revise goals, set new goals, and then continue to track data. During January, we want to celebrate all that was accomplished in the first two quarters of the school year. We hope you’ll join us for student-led conferences! We'll be celebrating the 100th day of school this month, too. We're planning award ceremonies in early February; be on the lookout for an invitation. All of these school-wide events are great ways for us to celebrate all the GREAT that is happening here at NAE!
Finally, will you consider joining us for SAC and PTO? This month, we meet on January 9, 2025. We look forward to sharing mid-year data at the SAC meeting at 3:45 pm. Our awesome PTO will be reflecting on the success of Winter Fest and planning for upcoming events like the Glow Run in February. We hope you will join us!
