Dear Families,
The second week of the 2024-2025 school year was a busy one! We celebrated our first All-School Liturgy on Thursday. We are blessed to come together as a faith community to worship and sing under the leadership of Deacon Gill.
In a week of firsts, on Friday, we had our first Fire Drill of the year. Overall, our school did well. Safety and listening skills were paramount. Way to go Tigers! In the upcoming weeks we will continue to practice safety drills, including a lock-down drill. More information will be sent home regarding this drill.
Open House is Wednesday from 5 pm-6:30 pm. (I know our calendar has it set until 7 pm but we should not need to extend that late.) Please come to the gym, enter at door #2-Tiger door (please pick up children from aftercare first.) After a short meeting in the gym, families will visit the classrooms. Please note, Ms. Lewis, Kindergarten will not be in attendance that evening.
All families attending will receive a PAW.
We do expect the shipment of polos by the end of day Tuesday. Thank you for your patience. The polos are $15 each. Scholars can wear light blue polos with the school logo (sold in the office) or polos with our school name, which are sold at Martinelli’s on 95th St. in Evergreen Park. This is the only place to buy our gym uniform.
I have attached some information below to help clarify dismissal procedures and where classes wait to be picked up. We realize we have new staff, new families, and some designated spots may have shifted. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Next week, 9/13, we will hold our first Parent-Teacher Conferences. Sign-ups will be posted on Bloomz by the end of this week. This day will be a 11:30 am dismissal and we will have after-care services. Conferences will be held from 12-5:50 pm.
This week, all scholars in grades K-8, will begin iReady testing. This is the first of three diagnostics which helps us understand what each student's academic strengths are in reading and math. It also sets a learning path for the scholar in the iReady instructional platform and helps the individual plan lessons to meet the class’ needs. We ask that during this time, all iReady is done in school, during class time. We will inform you when iReady can be practiced at home.
We thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. Please reach out with any questions.
Warmly,
Mrs. Thornton
Dismissal Procedures
Please be kind and patient at drop off and pick up. Keeping the children safe is most important. All scholars will be dismissed at 3:10 daily to their designated dismissal spots. Scholars who regularly stay for Extended Day go to the cafeteria and do not dismiss outside. If you know your child will not go to Extended Day, please send a message to the homeroom teacher or call the Main Office.
We have included a map of each classroom's dismissal's spot. (A pdf is also linked below.) For the safety of all, please meet your child near their classroom's designated spot. (Kindergarten is the only class that will be on the front stairs.) At the designated spot, the teacher will sign the child out or ask you to sign out the child on the dismissal sheet. Thank you for your partnership and cooperation in advance.
