Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30th, is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 2:00 PM.

Thursday, October 31st is a half day of school. Students will be dismissed at 11:47 AM.

Halloween Parade: Weather permitting, our annual Halloween parade will be on October 31st at 10:30 AM. Students will exit the building at 10:30 from the main doors, parade around the building twice, and reenter the building through the main doors. To ensure parents are distributed around the parade route, it is suggested you stand near the door where your child enters school. Unfortunately, the parade will be cancelled if it is raining, but as of right now, the forecast looks good.

Costume preparations: Students should wear their costume to school.

Costume appropriateness: Costumes should be appropriate for school and in good taste. They should not be offensive, gory, or threatening.
No masks or weapons: Masks or any item that may impede vision are not allowed. Weapons, even if fake, are also not permitted.
No costumes that interfere with school responsibilities: Costumes should not make it difficult for students to sit in their chairs, work in class, or use the bathroom.
Comfortable shoes: Students should wear safe and supportive shoes.
Halloween Treats: For all classroom parties, please ensure that all treats are store-bought to maintain safety and allergy guidelines.

Attending parent-teacher conferences is crucial for understanding your child's academic and social-emotional progress, addressing any concerns, and fostering a strong partnership with their teacher. Briarwood fall conference dates are November 7th and November 14th. Afternoon conferences will be scheduled between 12:30-3:30 PM (last conference slot at 3:15) and evening conferences will be scheduled between 5:00-8:00 PM (last conference slot at 7:45 PM). Please be on the lookout for a Sign Up Genius invitation from your child's teacher.

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.

Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from November 4, 2024 to November 8, 2024 during the school day. The Book Fair will also be open during conferences on November 7, 2024 from 1:00-3:30pm and 5:00-7:30pm at Briarwood Elementary School.

Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy. During the school day, students can pay with cash or eWallet money. There is 6% sales tax on all purchases so please send a little extra to cover tax. Credit cards will be accepted during conferences.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
