ZBTHS Parent Bulletin
From the ZBTHS Principal's Office Vol. 2, Issue 3
Principal's Message 8/20/21
We completed the first full week of classes. I couldn’t be more impressed with the Zion-Benton community. Students have been fantastic. Faculty and staff have been awesome. I appreciate the support and patience from all the parents and guardians as we make adjustments, fix some system details, and begin to settle in. We are all finding our way to a new normal. I am optimistic that school will proceed as intended with students attending in-person all eight periods every school day. We must remain diligent in our roles to make this happen. Vaccination is our North Star and I encourage everyone eligible to take advantage of this preventative measure. Everyone must wear masks while inside our buildings. We are committed to social distancing to the best of our abilities. Staff and students should stay home if they present any symptoms related to COVID-19. These are the mitigation strategies that each of us can practice so students can continue to come to school to attend classes, enjoy our clubs and activities, and/or participate in athletics. So far, we are off to a great start. Let’s keep it up Bees!
Sincerely,
Dr. Chris Pawelczyk
SAVE THE DATE: Parent-Teacher Conferences are Thursday, September 16, 2021
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, September 16, 2021. Last year, due to COVID-19, conferences were conducted virtually using Zoom. This new process was received well from parents/guardians and classroom teachers. As a result, Zion-Benton High School, ZAP, and Transitions will conduct Parent-Teacher Conferences virtually using Zoom meetings once again.
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, students will attend school following our 12:40 early release schedule. Each Fall we have two sessions to accommodate the personal/work schedules of our families. Teachers and other certified staff will be available for the first session of Parent-Teacher Conferences that begin at 1:30 pm until 3:30pm. Conferences will start up again at 6:30pm until 8:30pm. Please save this date and the times in your calendar. We will do our best to accommodate parents/guardians with technology concerns and/or who want to meet in person with their child’s classroom teachers.
Another communication will be sent in the next several weeks with details and directions to sign-up for the virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to sign up for 10-minute time slots with classroom teachers, school counselors, interventionists, case managers, social workers, and/or psychologists. Please know that you may not be able to schedule appointments with every teacher that your son or daughter has.
Over the next several weeks, I do urge you to contact our staff if you have any concerns, questions, or simply want to introduce yourself. You can always connect with our faculty and staff via phone or email via our ZBTHS Staff Directory.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Suzi Lehman in the Principal‘s office at LehmanS@zbths.org or 847-731-9303

DISTRICT 126 MASK GUIDANCE AND COVID MITIGATIONS
District 126 worked diligently last year to implement multiple mitigation strategies to keep students, families, and staff healthy and well. These mitigation strategies worked well in preventing the spread of COVID-19, and will continue to be implemented during the 2021-2022 school year. In accordance with the state mandate issued by the Governor of Illinois, ZBTHS D126 will require all persons entering the building to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. This policy is effective immediately. For more information click on the link below.

COVID-19 vaccines for those 12 and over
Zion-Benton Families,
Thank you to all that participated in the Zion Community Vaccine Clinic at New Tech and Marvy Banquet Halls. We have been able to provide over 1400 shots for the communities of Zion and Benton Townships. If you still need your second shot, please schedule your second dose to complete the vaccination process. If you have not gotten either of the doses yet, we strongly encourage everyone 12 and older to look into the possibilities that still exist for getting vaccinated free of charge.
