Dr. Jahi Issa Speaks! "The Importance of Africana Studies in the 21st Century and Beyond"

Harlem Liberation School is pleased to present on July 31, 2017, Dr. Jahi Issa, who will deliver a presentation entitled, "The Importance of Africana Studies in the 21st Century." Register for your free tickets here.


Black people and Black history, culture and politics have been devalued for centuries. Africana or Black Studies has also been trivialized and mischaracterized as being unimportant and irrelevant to Black empowerment and liberation.

Come out to Harlem Liberation School on July 31st to hear Dr. Jahi Issa set the record straight on the importance of Africana Studies!



Dr. Jahi Issa is an activist historian specializing in 17th -20th century African American and American intellectual, social and cultural history and the African Diaspora. He is a pragmatic Pan Africanist and an organic intellectual who is connected to mainstream society.


Jahi Issa was born and reared in St. Louis County (Ferguson), MO. Outside of seminary (Emory University), he received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from HBCUs (Texas Southern University, Southern

We Need Your Talent & Expertise!

The Harlem Liberation School is a community resource and community effort. We want to work with other Black organizations and community residents. We have a special need for veteran activists/organizers, Black Studies professors, educators and Black historians to do workshops, presentations, and panel discussions. If you are interested in working with us on a volunteer basis, please contact Agyei Tyehimba at 347-806-9384.

Vending Opportunities

We have limited space for 8 black vendors selling Books of Black History politics, and poetry, African jewelry, original poetry/music, or art on a first come, first served basis at every meeting. Each vendor will share a table with another vendor. Vending fee is $10 which vendors must pay at every meeting. If interested, please email truself143@gmail.com with the date you'd like to vend. You will receive an email notifying you if there is space available for you to sell
