Dear Pinelands family,

I want to thank you all once again for all of the support and prayers you have given Cass and I these past nine years. I look back and can hardly believe that it has been that long. Other times it seems like I have always been here. One thing is certain though, I will carry you with me forever in my heart. Thank you for the cards and wonderful gifts, and I look forward to hanging the beautiful quilt in my new residence, it will forever remind me of Pinelands UMC.

For those of you who were not in church this past Sunday, you missed me telling the congregation that I must take a hard year of separation. If you have any concerns or need any counseling, you will need to speak with Pastor Danny. This is not because I do not care, but it is important that you develop a relationship with Danny since he is now your pastor. Please give him the same support which you gave to Cass and me.

Life is a series of changes, and sometimes these changes are painful. But even the painful experiences we face are often the gateway to a new source of strength. Last night our grandson graduated from middle school and will take his place in the fall at Oakcrest High School. Tomorrow, we will watch our granddaughter graduate high school and, in the fall, she will begin at Stockton University. Both of them are a little scared and a little excited. This is a good thing; they are growing up and one day they will have families of their own.

It is my prayer that you all continue to meet the needs of the community through the food pantry and holiday outreach ministries. You are a beacon of hope for many people in our community. One day in the future I hope that there will be a plate of pancakes waiting for us with some fresh fruit topping. Until then, God bless you and keep you while we are absent, one from another.
