Mrs. Nofs - Advanced English 7
Week of 5/13 - 5/17
This week, we will start with a final quiz on students’ assigned reading of The Book Thief. In grammar, we will finish our pronoun lessons, and students will be assigned a study guide to complete in preparation for the upcoming unit assessment, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 23. We will also be using a lot of our class time this week preparing and drafting literary essays reflecting on the book we just read, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. As we near the end of the school year, students need to be up-to-date on their independent reading, so their summative grade can be what they want it to be.

Mrs. Zemke - Science
- REVIEW: This week in the Connect phase of Lesson 2, students developed a model to explain how humans see color. They used the fundamental components from the taste model last week. Students finished Lesson 2 by learning how we taste spiciness.
- PREVIEW: Next week, students will begin Lesson 3: Protein Powers. In Lesson 3, students compare data from three people who taste PTC differently and determine they have differently shaped receptor proteins. By interpreting molecular models of three different traits, students also discover that many other traits can be affected by the shape of protein molecule.
- REMINDERS: Bring a pencil to class. HERD values.
- BEST THING: Seeing students put forth great effort on their models of sight and taste.
