Discovering the best in all of us JANUARY 2025
PRINCIPALS MESSAGE FROM MR. BOGART
Dear Lincoln A-Team Families,
January 19-25 is Paraprofessional Recognition Week in Minnesota Schools. From academic intervention, library and media work, to supporting students with disabilities in the classroom setting, paraprofessionals perform a wide array of student support services. As well, they often help in managing some of the duties that schools could not do without such as playground, lunchroom, and school patrol duties. In the past, you may have referred to paraprofessionals as instructional aides, pupil support assistants, classroom helpers, etc. Today, their roles are becoming increasingly more specific and focused as they help to ensure that all students learn and grow. One thing that is clear to me as I move from classroom to classroom, is that our Lincoln paraprofessionals develop many relationships with our students and contribute to a positive climate and student-centered building culture.
At Lincoln Elementary School, our paraprofessionals are truly an integral part of the Lincoln School learning community and play a huge role in ensuring all students learn and grow!

Outdoor Recess Guidelines
We use zero degrees actual temp and -10 Feels Like temps as a "guideline" as to whether or not we go outside for recess.
Compared to wind chill, the “feels like” temperature has been described as a slightly more accurate estimate of how it actually feels outside considering wind, humidity, and other factors - this is sometimes referred to as the ‘apparent temperature.’ As we acclimate to temps, we will sometimes operate just outside our guidelines based on conditions such as wind direction, sunshine, humidity, etc. If students have been inside for many indoor recesses, we may have them bundle up and go outside, even for a short time. Our first consideration is safety, and then comfort. Please send warm, outdoor gear with your child.

Please Do Not Park on Lark Street
When picking up your child via vehicle at the end of the day, please do not park on Lark Street. Our goal is a streamlined, compartmentalized pick-up where we can expect families to follow the same procedure. This optimizes our setup, and prioritizes safety.
Bus Incidents
The district continues to face severe staffing challenges in transportation. Therefore, to be responsive to bus incidents, please report incidents directly to the Lincoln School Office rather than the Transportation Office. Lincoln School will partner with transportation to support students.
Parent Drop-off /Pick-up and Dismissal Reminders

Pick-up via vehicle
If someone unfamiliar with the process is picking up or walking your child home, please fill them in on “how it works” (i.e. grandparents, friends, a spouse, older siblings, family friends, etc.)
Vehicles should not park on the street and walk across to get their children from the parent pick-up line. Please use the designated parent pick-up line.
Please do not pull around other vehicles into the bypass lane to pick up your child, unless a staff waves you around during an unusual circumstance.
Watch your speed, and look closely when exiting into the bypass lane.
