Dear McKelvey Community,

We wrapped up our MAP testing this week and I want to thank you for getting your children to school on time. We will be anxiously waiting to see our outstanding results!

Field Day is scheduled for tomorrow and it will take place as long as there is no severe weather in the area. Please make sure that your child brings a towel and a change of clothes, including shoes. They will get wet even if it doesn't rain!

Our 5th Grade has several year-end celebration trips planned. Please remind your children to continue to follow McKelvey's Code of Conduct in order to ensure that they earn the privilege of precipitating in all of these fun activities.

Finally, it was exciting to watch graduating Seniors, who once walked the halls of McKelvey, do their Senior Walk today. Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!

Parents, please help your children find any long lost library books this weekend!

All library books need to be returned to the McKelvey Library by Thursday, May 16th. Any student who has all of their books returned will be entered in a raffle to win a Target Gift Card!

Lost & Found!

Parents - Our Lost & Found is overflowing with coats, hoodies, water bottles, lunch boxes & many other items! Please have your child check each day for any missing belongings. Anything not claimed by the last day of school will be donated or discarded. The picture below is just a sample of what we have collected.

Nurse's Notes

MEDICATION REMINDERS FOR END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND NEXT SCHOOL YEAR

Just a reminder that all medication at school must be kept in the nurse's office. Students may not bring medicine in to keep in their lunch bags or backpacks. This is a safety issue for them and other students in the school.

The medication authorization form needs to be filled out every year for all medications - prescription and over the counter medication. I am attaching the link to the form so you will have it over the summer to have your doctor fill it out.

If you do have medication in the nurse's office, please be sure to pick it up before the end of the school year. We are not allowed to send medication home with students, and can not keep it in our office over the summer as it may get too hot in the school if the air conditioner is off.

Be a part of something special! The McKelvey Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is made up of the parents of all the students at both McKelvey schools (K-5) and all teachers. We work together for the benefit of students to plan events, fundraisers, volunteer, take care of our teachers, and provide amazing resources to enhance our student learning. In short - the PTO helps make McKelvey awesome!

As a parent/guardian of a McKelvey Dragon, you are automatically a member. Please get involved as much as you are able. There are many ways, big and small, to connect and contribute to our school community. PTO's general meetings are led by our PTO Board, a small group of elected parents and teacher representatives. Volunteering at School

The success of our students would not be possible without the involvement and support of parents and the community. We love to connect with families in as many ways possible throughout the school year. Get a head start on approval for field trips, working in the library, or assisting with classroom projects by completing Parkway's required steps for volunteering at school. We look forward to seeing you in our school this coming year!

For Returning Volunteers - Every July, Parkway resets all of our volunteer accounts to renewal required. Your background information is good for up to six years from the time you completed it with MACHS as long as you stay active as a volunteer from year to year.
