A Spotlight from Heim Middle School
Dear Families,
The spotlight this week goes to our wonderful Student Services Staff. They play a vital role in ensuring the success and well-being of all students. In this picture we have our four counselors, Kelly Stewart, Carly Nest, Molly Foegen and Steve Mason as well as our Social Worker Keith Gordon, our School Psychologist Meredith Abel and our wonderful School Counseling Office Staff Shanna Wimble and Brittany Mackinnon. Their unwavering dedication to providing comprehensive support, from academic guidance to personal counseling, helps create an inclusive and nurturing environment for every student. Whether it’s through organizing workshops, offering one-on-one consultations, or connecting students with necessary resources, they go above and beyond to foster both academic achievement and emotional health. Their commitment not only empowers students to thrive in their studies but also contributes to building a strong, supportive community that encourages growth, resilience, and success.

Annual Canned Food Drive
The Heim Middle School annual canned food and personal care items drive will kick off on Monday! All canned food and non-perishable items will be donated to the Williamsville Food Pantry, helping members of the Williamsville and Amherst community.
- The drive will run from Monday, December 9th through Friday, December 13th.
- Heim time teachers will be receiving tickets and a collection box from a leadership student Thursday during Heim time.
- On Monday, you may start by giving each student in your Heim time a ticket, regardless of whether they bring in an item.
- Starting Monday, students can bring canned goods and non-perishable items to you, their Heim time teacher, and place it in the box in your Heim time. This is how they will earn extra tickets.
- When a student brings in their items, Heim time teachers should give them a ticket for each item they donate. An extra ticket should be given for high need items: cereal, peanut butter, powdered milk, mashed potato mix and canned cranberries/fruit.
- Students should put their tickets into the grade level bin in the library. Each day, starting Tuesday through the following Monday, a ticket will be drawn from each grade level bucket and the student whose name is drawn will win a prize! We have a school-wide challenge to try to fill Mr. Buffomante’s office with all the boxes of canned food that we collect!
- Please deliver your filled boxes to Mr. Buffomante’s office and let Jen Moore (B5) know that you need a new box.
- On Monday, December 16th a leadership Heim time student will come around and collect any boxes left in your room (that were not taken to Mr. Buffomante's office)!
Thank you in advance for your support!
