UPDATED 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR

MHS STUDENTS COMPETE IN THE TN DECA CONFERENCE
From February 26th - 28th, 23 Maryville High School students competed at the Tennessee DECA State Career Development Conference in Chattanooga. We are thrilled to recognize the following students who placed in the top six of their events: Netsanet Gibson, Addie Thompson, Abby Hall, Holland Harvard, Taniya Bharwad, Madelyn Coulter, and Blanton Dietz!
We are incredibly proud of all our competitors for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication. They showcased their talents and represented Maryville with excellence - congratulations MHS DECA!
FOOTHILLS 2ND GRADE MARKET DAY
On February 25, Foothills Elementary hosted its annual 2nd Grade Market Day, a cherished tradition nearly two decades in the making. This hands-on learning experience gives students a valuable introduction to economics as they create, market, and sell their own products.
This year's marketplace featured a variety of creative and fun items, including bookmarks, dog treats, beaded bracelets, picture frames, and delicious homemade goodies. Students also offered services for sale, such as manicures and shoulder massages. Each participant started with 20 shopping tickets and had the opportunity to earn more as they successfully sold their products.
A huge thank you to the teachers and staff who make this event both meaningful and memorable for our students.

BREAKING GROUND ON THE FUTURE - MHS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY
Maryville City Schools leaders, city officials, and community members gathered Monday to break ground on Maryville High School’s long-awaited expansion. With MCS Concert Band students providing music, the event celebrated the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
Director of Schools Dr. Mike Winstead highlighted the legacy of success in Maryville City Schools, emphasizing that this expansion—the largest in the school’s history—will enhance learning opportunities for students. The project, expected to take two years, includes 48 new classrooms, science and health labs, art rooms, a new auditorium with a seating capacity of 667, and a cafeteria expansion, as well as 158+ additional parking spaces.
Maryville City Mayor Andy White and Board Chair Julie Elder also spoke, recognizing the careful planning and community support behind the project. The first phase of construction has already started.
Project updates, construction phases, and renderings are posted on our website: MHS EXPANSION PROJECT

MHS BAND EARNS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD OF DISTINCTION
The Maryville High School Red Rebel Band continues to set the standard for excellence, earning the American School Band Directors Association’s (ASBDA) Award of Distinction in Concert Performance on March 5th. Competing at the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (ETSBOA) Concert Performance Assessment, the MHS Band achieved all superior ratings (1’s) in every category from concert and sight-reading judges.
What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is the band's choice to perform Grade VI music, the highest level of difficulty, typically reserved for collegiate and professional ensembles. Maryville High School was the only program across the two-day event to take on this challenge, demonstrating their exceptional musicianship and dedication.
This marks the seventh consecutive year that the MHS Band has earned this distinguished honor. Their performance showcased not only technical mastery but also professional showmanship, finesse, and musical expression.

MHS STUDENTS ARE CAREER READY & SUMMER JOB SHOWCASE
MHS students are taking important steps toward career readiness! In February, third-block classes learned how to engage professionally with recruiters at career fairs. They put these skills into action during a job fair where seniors were encouraged to apply for positions with local employers from a variety of industries.
A huge thank you to the 39 employers who participated, the dedicated PTSO volunteers for warmly welcoming visitors, and the talented culinary students for providing refreshments for our industry partners. We are proud to see our students actively preparing for life beyond graduation!
Looking ahead, another exciting opportunity awaits— the MHS Summer Job Showcase, happening April 7-11. This event is perfect for students seeking part-time and summer employment.
