Welcome Back!

#TeachUP!
Dear Millard Families,
Welcome back! I hope you have had a wonderful and relaxing summer with plenty of time
outside. It’s good to get away for awhile.
Of course many of us don’t really leave. We stick around and try something new. I’ve enjoyed
seeing so many of you at summer school, sports practices, band practices, swimming lessons and visiting our libraries. Our buildings never truly close. They just clear out enough for us to clean up and fix up.
Speaking of ‘up’, our new hashtag is #TeachUP! You will see it all over the district. #TeachUP! is our commitment to always bring our best game to the classroom. It’s what we want for your children, and it’s why we are here.
Then again, sometimes we’re not here. I want to take a moment to talk about inclement
weather. I know… it seems crazy to think about snow in this heat. But one thing we all learned
last year is that you never know when winter is going to hit yet again. This year, we are going to be ready. Here's how:
- An e-Learning Day - Last year was a good start. This year we are ready to step this up to the next level to improve the experience.
- A Two Hour Late Start - It’s amazing the difference two hours can make. The weather can improve, roads and parking lots are cleared, and we can all take our time. Two hours may just be what we need to keep the day on track.
- Call Off School – Sometimes it’s just that bad, and no school is our best option. Whatever the decision, we will do our best to make the call the night before. It’s not always possible, but we know you need to know as soon as the decision is made.
For now, enjoy the great weather, #BeKind and have fun! It’s going to be an amazing year. We
are excited you are a part of it.
Best Regards,
Dr. Jim Sutfin
