News for December 12, 2024
We had some wonderful visitors last Friday.
K and 1st grade had the opportunity to attend a Pacer Puppet Show. Count Me In puppets help bring the message of disability awareness and social inclusion to young children.
4th graders had a cardiac nurse come to do different engaging stations about the heart. They have been learning about the imagery language and the heart and circulatory system in literacy.
I had the pleasure of spending time with 2nd graders putting their hard work to the test in Spark Lab. After designing, selecting materials, labeling their packages, groups dropped their Aid Package. There was an egg inside each package as the โtestโ material. Check out this quick video to see it in action.
It is wonderful to see the many engaging learning opportunities students have each day.

Cold Weather Reminders
Student Drop-Off:
A reminder, student drop-off in the morning begins at 8:45 AM. There is no supervision or coverage prior to that time outside. and with cold weather, make sure your students are dressed for the weather!
Recess:
We know that it is important for students to get fresh air every day and we will send students outside for recess as weather permits. Our weather guidelines are outside recess unless the temperature is below 0 or the windchill is -17 degrees. Please send snow pants, boots, jackets, hats and mittens everyday with your child. If you are in need of warm outerwear for your child/ren, please contact the teacher or the school office for assistance. It is a good idea to label the clothing as our Lost & Found is growing every day.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is getting full. Please watch this quick video going through it and look at the pictures to see if your childโs belongings are in there. We will be donating all items at winter break.

A Message From Nurse Buck
Winter Weather Reminders From The Health Office
Our Central Park students go outside for recess every day, unless the temperature is at or below 0 degrees Fahrenheit and/or the windchill is at or below 17 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of recess. If you wish for your student to stay inside during recess due to a medical condition, we need a note from your student's medical provider.
Your student is welcome at school, even if they are not feeling 100%, as long as your student has not had vomiting, diarrhea, or a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the last 24 hours.
Please check your student's head at least once per week for lice & nits. Hats & scarves should not be shared between students & should be stored in the sleeve of their jacket while they're not wearing them to help reduce the transmission of lice & reduce the chance of losing these items.
Winter weather is dry & can lead to chapped hands and lips. Please ensure your student is using lip balm & hand lotion at home.
Save The Date
Central Park Bingo Night is on Friday, January 24th. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to contact local businesses to request donations. If you would be willing to reach out on behalf of Central Park to some businesses, please email berri.reiser@isd623.org. Thank you in advance for considering helping us gather great prizes for this fun night.
