Summer Camp Update
Dear EEELP Families,
Our hope and desire is to return to serving our families through the programs that we typically offer, and the safety and health of our students and staff is our primary concern. As a result of the continuing health restrictions guiding the "Safer at Home" order, EEELP will not offer summer camp until those orders have been lifted. Therefore, please be advised that EEELP summer camp will not be running in June or July.
Applications for summer camp for August will continue to be accepted online at enrolleeelp.gusd.net through May 25, with the hope that we will be able to offer camp if restrictions are lifted. Again, the opening of traditional EEELP summer camp in August is contingent upon whether or not safety precautions are fully lifted and it is safe to return to typical summer camp conditions. These decisions are made under the direction of GUSD's Board of Education, the Superintendent, the Los Angeles County Office of Education, and other agencies responsible for the governance of public education in California.
Emergency childcare for essential workers may be offered in the future. More information about this possibility will be coming as it becomes available.
We wish you and your families safety and health during this difficult time and we look forward to serving you in the future.
Applications for the 2020-2021 School Year
EEELP has begun the online application process for the 2020-2021 ASES programs (offered for grades 1-8 at select schools) at enrolleeelp.gusd.net. The ASES application will remain open through May 25 with the lottery for available spaces occuring on May 29.
EEELP will also begin accepting applications online at enrolleeelp.gusd.net for before and after school care for self-supporting families for TK-6 grade and RAP for grades 1-8 on May 15 at 8 a.m., with the hope that we will be able to offer our typical childcare programs when the school year begins in August. Spaces fill quickly, so please submit your child's application for childcare soon after it becomes available on May 15 so that we can meet your childcare needs in anticipation of safety restrictions being lifted for the 2020-2021 school year.
Should you need assistance with your online application, please email the Program Supervisor for the school your child will be attending in the coming year. Please include your name, your child's name, the school's name, and the name of the program you need help in applying for. You may also call the EEELP Main Office at 818-247-0775. Due to high call volume at application time please leave a voicemail or send an email if your call is not answered immediately and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

FLAG Korean Summer School Cancelled
In light of the current distance learning and stay-at-home orders surrounding the COVID-19 situation, the FLAG Korean Summer School for the summer of 2020 has been cancelled. The challenges presented in replicating a language-rich summer school experience through the arts delivered through an online platform would compromise the integrity of the program, therefore not meeting its intended goals of interactively teaching Korean language and culture with students.
Any and all funds that have already been paid for this program will be reimbursed and reimbursement checks for those who have paid will be mailed to home addresses in the coming weeks.
We hope to offer this program in the future. If your child is currently enrolled in a FLAG Korean program you may want to reach out to their teacher for resources for continued learning over the summer.
