FOOD ASSITANCE:
Together we are Hugh Cole Strong!
Rhode Island is experiencing one of the highest levels of food insecurity recorded in the last 20 years. Among all households in RI, 18% ( one in six households) cannot meet their basic food needs. The risk of hunger is even higher for families with children: one in four. Due to inflation and rising costs of necessities, food insecurity is still on the rise in Warren and other towns in RI.
We are here to HELP !
Over the last 20 years, the Hugh Cole School Food Pantry has helped many families in need of assistance. Along with helping out our school families, we have also been able to share our donations with local food pantries as well.
Could your family use some assistance with food? Please read below...
Click on this form to request food. The food can be sent home in your child’s backpack and/or picked up at school. This form is confidential and no additional information is needed.
We are here to help! Together with the East Bay Food Pantry, we are able to provide assistance in food needs. The East Bay Food Pantry can support your needs with meat, dairy, and produce products in addition to non-perishables. Orders can be done online and can be picked at EBFP and or at our school.
In Warren, we also have a food pantry at St. Mary's of the Bay on Main St. On Tuesday and Wednesday food can be selected. St. Mary’s of the Bay can also be a great resource to support food needs.
We also collaborate with Hope and Main - Nourish our Neighbors program that offers free dinners to families in need. Dinners will be available every Wednesday or Thursday. The dinners will come frozen and can be warmed up for a hot meal. These meals are available to everyone in the family, not just school aged children.
If you are having any food insecurity issues or need assistance filling out the request form please reach out to tracy.earl@bwrsd.org , one member of the Food Assistance team.
