Dear Rainier Families,
Spring is just around the corner, and we're thrilled to share the latest updates and happenings from our little mountain school.
Upcoming Events
There are various events to enjoy during the month of March. We hope you will plan to join us for at least one event. All of the event details are included in the newsletter, however, I have listed a few below that you are welcome to attend:

March 1: Monthly Award Assembly and Kids Heart Challenge, 1pm in the Gym
March 4: PTO Meeting at 2:30pm
March 7: Family Reading Night at 5pm
March 15: Family Night Out at 6:30pm to enjoy our live band, karaoke, crafts, food and more
March 22: Talent Show at 1pm and a mobile DSHS Truck will be on campus from 12-5pm for families to sign up for resources
Intent to Return
We are requesting your assistance as we begin planning and preparing for the 2024-2025 school year. Once a student is enrolled at Columbia Crest, they may remain through 8th grade. The information you provide will help our school plan appropriately.
Please disregard if you have already submitted your form.
Please submit one of these forms for each of your children.
Thank you for submitting this form in a timely manner as we hope to draft our master schedule and account for proper staffing needs. Please submit this form no later than Friday, March 15th.
Substitute Paras Needed
If you or someone you know would be interested in being a paraeducator substitute at our school, please click the link to apply. Paraeducators work with students directly, help in classrooms, provide reading and math interventions, cover the library, teach art and supervise recess.
Spring Break Reminder
As we gear up for warmer weather and rejuvenation, a friendly reminder that Spring Break will be from April 1 - April 5. We hope all our families have a safe and enjoyable break!
Science Fair
Our annual Science Fair is scheduled for April 10th, and we can't wait to see the creative projects our students have been working on. Parents are welcome to attend and witness the budding scientists in action! More details are in this newsletter.

Exciting News from our TK Class!
Last week, our little gardeners embarked on an adventure in sustainability! We introduced them to our school garden and the magical world of composting. They're now on a mission to save their apple and pear cores from lunchtime to contribute to our compost pile! Soon, these scraps will transform into nutrient-rich soil for planting and growing new wonders in our garden! Stay tuned for more updates on our green journey!

You are invited to join us for our 'Books and Bonfire' reading night on Thursday, March 7th from 5:00-6:30pm. We will have games, learning, and fun for the whole family! All who attend will have a free dinner provided to them.

ποΈπΈ Family Event ~ Live Band, Karaoke, Crafts and Food! ποΈπΈ
An event for the whole family is coming up on Friday, March 15 from 6:30-7:30pm. There will be a live band, karaoke and crafts. Root Beer Floats and snacks will be for sale too.
You may prepay before the event $5 ticket sales or pay at the door for $7 tickets.

All acts that are well rehearsed and school appropriate will be accepted into the show, however they need to be reviewed by Miss Hilliker first.
Please submit a video of your student's act and their permission form by Friday, March 8th to be considered for the show.
The 2024 Talent Show will be held on Friday, March 22nd at 1:00pm in the CCA Gym.

π DSHS Mobile Truck is Coming to CCA π
Do you need support such as food, cash or medical assistance? We are excited to announce a DSHS Truck will be on site at CCA on March 22 from 12-5pm to help families apply for resources!
π± Updates from our GROW Class πΏ
Classes learned a little bit more about milk products and the composition of cow milk. Each student successfully made butter by shaking cream in a pint jar (agitating fat globules to make them stick together). Next, they will wash and salt their jars of butter, and taste test!

Monthly Assembly Invitation
So many significant accomplishments will be celebrated, during our Monthly Recognition Assembly. Parents and family members are always welcome to attend.
π« Kids Heart Challenge March 1-22 π«
Kids Heart Challenge is kicking off on March 1st with a fun-filled assembly by the American Heart Association! Together, weβll empower our students to have happy and healthy hearts and brains, while raising lifesaving donations to help others with special hearts. Help our school meet our goal by following these steps:

- SEND 10 emails/texts to friends & family asking for a donation!
- Start Finnβs Mission to learn Hands-Only CPR & raise lifesaving donations to help special hearts

- All registered students will be entered into a weekly drawing to earn an Avocado Warmie!!! The first name will be drawn at our assembly!

We are hosting a Science Fair for all Preschool β 8th grade students on Wednesday, April 10.
Parents are welcome to do a project at home with their child and enter it into the Fair.

Absences, Tardies, Transportation Changes and Early Pick Ups
Please fill out the form linked above for the following situations:
TRANSPORTATION CHANGE: Transportation Changes must be completed no later than 1pm on the day the transportation change is needed.
PICK UP EARLY: Please submit the time and reason for picking up your child early from school.

Morning Routine/Drop-offs
If you're driving your child to school in the morning , please kindly drive up and drop off your child at 7:25am. Students will be greeted at the main door by a staff member and may walk to class. Parents do not have to get out of their car.
Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten families may escort their child to their classrooms.
Car Rider Dismissal Procedures
In an effort to improve the efficiency and safety of the daily dismissal of studentsβ who are car riders, please carefully review our dismissal procedures.
- Please make sure to use the form in this link to let us know who will be picking up your student. For safety reasons and per our policy, we no longer accept phone calls or written notes for changes.
- Adults picking up students at the end of the day will park in our main lot.
- Please step out of your vehicle so we can see you. A staff member will greet you outside to inquire which student you are here for (if we do not know you).
- Students who are car riders will wait inside the building for their ride to pull up to the loading zone
- As soon as we see you have arrived, we submit the alert to the teacher. We begin releasing students at 2:05pm every day.
