With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the students, families, staff, and community members who enthusiastically contribute so much to our District.

Unity Trees on Display in All D140 Schools
Next time you’re in one of our schools, check out our Unity Trees! Every building in the District has one. Students and staff throughout the District decorated hands with messages giving thanks, setting goals, and celebrating first-quarter accomplishments. We are KirbyONE40!
Bannes Fun Run/Walk Promotes Family Fitness
The Bannes PTO sponsored a Family Fun Run/Walk for students and their families on Saturday, November 12. Thanks to all who participated!

McAuliffe and Keller Family Reading Nights
During the week of November 14, our McAuliffe and Keller school communities enjoyed family events centered around reading and technology activities. Thanks to the many students and their families who joined in the fun.
A special thanks goes out to our Board of Education for helping us unveil McAuliffe’s newly renovated Media Center.

D140 Board of Ed Celebrates Students at November Board Meeting
Five District 140 students were recognized at the November Board of Education meeting for their winning submissions to the Tinley Park Fire Prevention Poster Contest. This year's theme was “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.”
Congratulations to Maddy S. (McAuliffe), Vinny M. (Bannes), Gavin H. (McAuliffe), Tegan F-M. (McAuliffe), and Aaron M. (McAuliffe)!
D140 Schools Commemorate Veterans Day
D140 students and their families commemorated Veterans Day with special assemblies at schools throughout the District. Thank you to all who have served.

Calendar Change
This year, D140's Winter Break will begin with a Half Day on Thursday, December 22. Elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:10 am, and middle schools will be dismissed at noon.
This is a change from the 2022-23 school year calendar originally released to families. The adjustment to Winter Break will also affect the last day of school. The 2022-23 school year will now conclude with a Half Day on Friday, June 9, 2023. Elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:10 am, and middle schools will be dismissed at noon.
