SCREEN FREE WEEK K-3
K-3 students and families are invited to participate in SCREEN-FREE WEEK from May 5-9, 2025.
Screen-Free Week is a nationwide event celebrated by schools, families, and other civic and community groups each year. Instead of watching TV or playing video games, people choose to read, play, think, create, get physically active, and spend more time with friends and family.
Studies show that children who spend less time on tablets or watching TV are more likely to read well and to be physically fit. Other benefits of reduced screen time are reduced anxiety, improved mood and focus, decreased risk of obesity, improved sleep, better social skills and more time for play and family interaction! Each week, American children spend more time in front of a screen than they do in school! Screen-Free Week is a great way to jump-start our kids into more reading, learning, and active play.
It’s also a lot of fun!

April 4th was National School Librarian Day. BPS Library Assistants and Library Media Specialists are passionate advocates for literacy. They create welcoming library spaces where a love of reading flourishes. Here students enjoy a story with Miss Arrascue. She is the library assistant at West Villages and Centerville Elementary.
