The Weekly Update #4

There will be work done on the small parking lot between CHMS and Prospect on Monday, October 21st. This should not effect the morning drop off or afternoon pick-up.

It may effect the lunch pick-up or Kindergarten drop off. Please turn into the parking lot off of Prospect if it is closed off during the lunch hour.

Modified Lunch times for Grades 1-5: Kindergarten will follow their normal schedule in the am.

Modified lunch hour for all students in Grades 1-5: 11:45 – 1:00 PM (Students may go home for lunch and change into their costume.)

If you need your child to stay for lunch at Prospect on October 31st, they should bring their costumes in a bag to dress into during the lunch hour. All other students should change into their costumes at home during the lunch hour. PM Kindergarten students may come to school at 1:00 with their siblings, or attend at their usual time.

Costumes: Costumes should be appropriate for a school environment and elementary-age school children and should not reflect violence. Costumes that reflect blood and gore should not be worn. Costumes should be designed as to not block the student’s vision. “Look-alike” weapons are prohibited at school. Costumes should not include make-believe guns, knives or weapons of any kind. Keep in mind that students will be walking during the parade and sitting in classrooms for the parties.

Parade: The parade is from 1:15-1:45 PM (parade begins inside at 1:15 for students)

Weather permitting, parents, siblings, grandparents, etc are invited to watch the parade. Please stand on the blacktop or on the playground area. Students will walk on the sidewalks around these areas. In the event of inclement weather, our parade will take place in the building with parents waiting in our gym/multi-purpose room. Class parties will take place after the parade beginning at 2:00 pm. Parents signed up to work the classroom parties will only be allowed in the classrooms. Please park in the overflow parking lot north of Prospect School. (No parking in the car lane, this must remain open for dismissal.)

Room Parties are from 2:00 – 3:00 PM

Dismissal is at 3:05 PM

The school calendar has been established a year in advance and is available on the District website: www.d181.org. While we realize the value of family time, we strongly discourage the planning of vacations during regular student attendance days.

Elementary School Information Related to Planned Absences:

In the event of a planned absence, a parent must communicate directly with the school at least two days prior indicating their intentions. A parent/guardian may email, complete this form, or call the Office with the following information:

1. Name of student

2. reason for the absence, and

3. date(s) the student will be absent

If a planned absence consists of three (3) or more days, assignments and completion dates will be given after the absence as determined by the teacher. Teachers will not be required to re-teach material missed by students.

The Community House will be offering the Before and After the Bell programs at Prospect School to help meet the needs of our families.
