2024-2025 The Year of Hope
November 2024
Greetings Aura Caregivers,
As we savor the warmth and beauty of fall, it is truly remarkable that we are already well into November. Aura is abuzz with a variety of engaging events and activities that offer wonderful learning and growth opportunities for both you and your child. We have so many things to be grateful for here at Aura. Above all, we have each other: wonderful students, teachers and staff, parents and community. There is great learning going on here at Aura due to everyone’s efforts!
November is also a month rich in celebrations and commemorations within our community and beyond. Whether you are honoring Native American Heritage Month, Diwali, Veterans Day, or Thanksgiving, we embrace the diversity that makes Aura special. We invite families to share their cherished traditions with us, creating opportunities to learn and grow together as a community.
On November 11th, we will welcome Veterans to Aura for a special Veterans Day Assembly. Our Student Congress and our advisors have planned a very special event for our guests. We look forward to paying tribute to each of them!
During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of our children’s lives. This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the special people in our lives. On behalf of the Aura staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday.
Take care,
Dr. Madden

Nurse's Nook
The CDC and NJDOH have issued an update regarding increased numbers of pneumonia. See below:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) are observing an increase in reports of pneumonia. The proportion of patients discharged from emergency departments with a diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae-associated pneumonia has been increasing across the United States and New Jersey. Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections are typically mild, but can result in severe illness among vulnerable populations, including young children, older adults, and individuals with underlying health conditions.
If you notice your child has a lingering cough that won't seem to go away, or an upper respiratory infection for more than 7-10 days, it may warrant a visit to their pediatrician. **Please remember to keep sick kids home.**
Reminder: Flu season is among us, time to get those flu shots!
