Message from Stonehedge Elementary School Principal
Dear Stonehedge Families-
This may have been a four day week at school, but the students and staff were busy making the most of each second. It is so exciting to see the learning that takes place each and every day.
I'd like to give a shout out to all of the families who arrived after 2:45 pm today!!! We appreciate your support in maintaining safe dismissals at both WGIS and Stonehedge. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Cooler temperatures are approaching (I think?!). Please remember, the children will go outside whenever possible. Please be sure to send in appropriate outdoor clothing. Students will need coats, hats, and gloves. Once the snow gets here, boots will be needed, too.
Next week, we'll begin Parent-Teacher Conferences. This is an important time to discuss your student's progress and to build an even stronger connection between families and school. Please be sure to schedule a conference with your child's teacher, if you haven't already done so. And, while you are here.... PLEASE CHECK OUT THE LOST AND FOUND!!!! Once again, we are doing more losing than finding! The lost and found items will be located in each lobby during conferences. :)
I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend. See everyone on Monday.
Mrs. Simmons

Positivity Project
This week's P2 trait gratitude. People with this trait are aware of and thankful for good things that happen. Being thankful for what you have is something you can practice every day!
Some of our 2nd grade students shared with the school how they show gratitude and what they are thankful for.
"I am thankful for my parents."
"I am thankful for my family."
"I show gratitude by making a cake for my grandma."
"I show gratitude by helping my brother."
"I show gratitude my giving gifts and helping others."
"I am thankful for my teacher."
"I am thankful for my friends."
"I am thankful for my family."
Keep Sick Days Safe: When to Keep Your Child Home from School
As the colder weather sets in, it often brings with it an increase in seasonal illnesses. To help keep all students and staff healthy, we ask families to monitor for certain symptoms before sending children to school.
If your child displays any of the following, please keep them home:
- Fever of 100 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours
- Vomiting or Diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- Strep Throat. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school
- Bad cold with congestion or bad cough, especially if it has kept your child awake at night; and/or the cough is continuous and consistent throughout the day.
- Pink eye. Your child should be on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
If your child becomes ill at school and the nurse and/or teacher feel your child is too sick to benefit from school and is contagious to classmates and staff, you will be called to pick up your child.
Notification Regarding Chilly Conditions
With the changing weather, children are now wearing layers of cold-weather clothing. We kindly request that you label your child's outerwear. This small effort can be a big help in reuniting lost items with their rightful owners, and you'll be grateful you took the time to do so.
Please keep in mind that our students will continue to go outside for recess. If the temperature is 20 degrees Fahrenheit or above, recess can take place outside. If the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (this includes factoring in the WINDCHILL), recess will be indoors. Students should always have appropriate clothing for the weather: Coat, boots, snow pants, hat, and gloves.
Emergency Closing Information
Announcements about school closings, delayed openings, or early dismissal will be posted on the News Headlines section of the District website home page. They will also be broadcast on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the following stations which you can access by clicking here.
Also, ParentSquare communications software allows us to send emails, texts, and make phone calls. (Phone calls will be used for emergency situations only.)
