Principal's Message
As we step into March, we have the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on three important occasions: International Women’s Day (March 8), World Social Work Day (March 19), and World Down Syndrome Day (March 21). Each of these days highlights the strength, compassion, and inclusivity that make our school and community stronger.
International Women’s Day reminds us of the incredible role women play in shaping young lives—whether as teachers, education assistants, volunteers, or family members. Their dedication, kindness, and leadership help guide our students each and every day.
World Social Work Day honors the social workers who support and uplift children and families, ensuring that every child has the resources and encouragement they need to thrive. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every day.
World Down Syndrome Day is a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and the unique strengths that every individual brings to our school community. It’s an opportunity to promote kindness, understanding, and the belief that we are all better when we embrace and support one another.
This month, let’s take a moment to appreciate the women, social workers, and individuals with Down syndrome who make our school and world a better place. Their strength, dedication, and spirit inspire us all.
During the week leading up to International Women's Day, we will be reading about extraordinary women's achievements on the announcements. On Monday, we read about Cecile Eustace Smith, the first Canadian woman to represent Canada in the Olympics back in 1924. She was a figure skater who competed in the first winter Olympics in Chamonix, France at just 15 years old.
Thank you to Cheryl Slade for raising over $1800 for Grade 6 Camp with a battery round up!! Thank you also for the Canteen donation from Cheryl Slade!
Thank you to Alberta Views RV and Golf Club for their Camp donation! Thank you to the Resta and Oslund families for their generous Camp donations as well! We are getting close to fulfulling our goal!
Thank you to Andrea Nelson for her camera donation supporting our Options class!
There are so many great things going on in the school each and every day and we are thankful for everyone's contributions that go towards making Eckville Elementary the amazing school it is.

School Visitors - Check In at Main Office
Just a reminder to everyone that all school visitors need to check in at the main office. When students are being picked up early, please come to the office and let us know, then we can call or walk down to the classroom. This helps limit classroom disruptions and lets us ensure we know who are always in the building as visitors, in case of an emergency.
Alberta Education Assurance Surveys - NOW LIVE
The Alberta government has a system for schools and school authorities to consistently assess progress and demonstrate success called the Assurance Framework. The framework has 5 assurance areas with related performance measures that enable schools and school authorities to show their communities how they are performing each year. Schools and school authorities share their results with their stakeholders through their Annual Education Results Report (AERR) and engage with them to set priorities and build their education plan.
- Mr. Reimer is completing this in class with students in Gr 4-6.
- Mrs. Opsahl emailed all parents in Gr 4-6 directions and a unique, anonymous survey code.
Celebration of Learning - Thursday, March 20
Our Celebration of Learning will take place on Thursday, March 20 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. This is an opportunity for your children to be leaders and show you what they have been learning in class.
Teachers will have centres set up for your child to lead you through to demonstrate their skills in many subject areas.
If you require an individual meeting with a teacher or if they require one with you, these will need to be set up on an alternate date.
