Golfview Elementary Newsletter

Fall is well underway and students are diving deep into fun learning across all the grades. In addition to rich learning opportunities, Golfview has several fun experiences coming up for students and families. Additionally, it is the time of year where we will welcome families to meet with teachers to discuss the progress of their students at parent teacher conferences.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 11:00am-4:00pm and 5:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 8:00am - 1:00pm. These conferences will be held in person at Golfview School. Online scheduling starts on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10:00am and ends on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:00 noon. You will need to go to PTC Parent Scheduling for Golfview schedule your appointment.

Please schedule a meeting with your child’s classroom teacher. If you want to meet with one of your child’s specials teachers (like art, music, gym, STEM, etc.) please schedule an additional appointment with Ms. Bernardi, our music teacher. This will allow you to meet with any one of the specials teachers in the gym during that time. The username and password is the parent’s PowerSchool Parent Portal username (all lowercase).

If you have children at more than one D300 school, you will need to go to a different PTC Wizard URL address for each school. Click here to find the PTC Wizard URL addresses for all D300 schools. You will need to close your web browser between sessions when switching between different school URLs. Again, the username and password is the parent’s PowerSchool Parent Portal username (all lowercase).

If you do not have your PowerSchool Parent username and password, please call the Golfview Elementary School office at 224-484-2800 and Krystal Haro or Matty Ramon will help you to reset your PowerSchool Parent username and password so that you can schedule your parent-teacher conferences. You will also use this PowerSchool Parent username and password in spring to register your children for the 25-26 school year, so please put it somewhere safe so you can find it when you need it. Please call the Golfview office if you have any questions.

Golfview as accumulated a tremendous amount of lost and found items so far this year. We will have items out at out Family Reading Night and at Parent Teacher Conferences. We encourage all families to look through the lost and found for missing items. Additionally, students are encouraged to check the items on their way to or from lunch. We have sweaters, coats, water bottles, lunchboxes, hats and much more. Any items that remain after parent teacher conferences will be donated to charity.

The Fall Book Fair is coming! Classes will have opportunities to visit the Book Fair the week of November 18th. Teachers will share out which day their class will be visiting. There is tax charged on purchases made at the Book Fair.

In honor of statewide Illinois Family Reading Night, Golfview will also host their Family Reading Night on Thursday, November 21st from 6-7pm. Families can join us for an evening of fun and learning where "Reading is Out of This World." Families who visit at least 4 stations will get a ticket to visit the book fair in the library. The first 72 students who come will get a special space bag of prizes. All students who come will get prizes and free books. You will even be able to make your own Space Party Mix! Come and have some fun with your family and learn fun ways to practice your reading.

Join us for the November PTO Meeting on 11.12.24 at 6PM. We will offer in person options here at Golfview or you can join virtually using this Google Meeting Link. Please make sure you have Google Meets downloaded on your phone or device. Additionally, we will post the Link on our Golfview Schoology page that you can access from your child's Chromebook.

The PTO will be debriefing Halloween, discussing upcoming events and voting on a December Family fun event! We look forward to seeing you Tuesday evening in person or virtually.

Help support the Golfview PTO by coming to Village Pizza or pick up pizza to take home on Wednesday, November 13th anytime from 5-9pm. Please bring the flyer that was sent home with you so that the PTO can receive 15% back of al sales!
